My guess the reason it is so big to match the cabinet volume of the tower. It's also a WT/MW so it will have some height to it. With careful crossover design (which Dave seems very anal about) any issues of off-axis acoustical interference which plague a lot of other horizontal centers can be avoided. But yeah that center IS a MONSTER.
