There's talk about a sequel, which I will avoid at all costs.
It's already out. This time, the surgeon has no medical training! The premise is actually clever: the first movie is so sick and depraved, it inspires a lunatic to replicate it (but with more people!). One of the actresses from the first one plays herself...but she's snared into the real thing now.

It's apparently even uglier, more disgusting, and avoid-at-all-costs-able than the first.

P.S. I've never seen the first one, but I've read vivid descriptions and seen diagrams. I think I was a happier person before I knew all that.

"Ingestion by A, passes through B to C, then excretion by C." YUCK!!!!

It's really hard to beat John Carpenter for Halloween.

Well, first there's, you know...Halloween. But there's also The Fog, Prince of Darkness, They Live, and one of my personal favorite movies of all time, The Thing. Really hits the spot for Halloween scare flicks.

Silent Hill BD. I am absolutely in love with the PQ/SQ.

Nightmare on Elm street for me. The original. As someone else said. All the others were pretty much a joke. But the first was creepy.

I recently bought Bram Stoker's Dracula on BD, during Blockbuster's recent sell-off for, a great price. So, by default, that'll be the film of choice.

Watched The Orphanage last night. If you haven't seen this one, I highly recommend it. The sound is excellent with a ton of surround activity, the story is quite good and the tension is well maintained. It is creepy without the need for shock and blood.

The Great Pumkin!
My daughter bought me that one. It is a mus watch every year. :)

Just watched Tales of Terror with Vincent Price over the weekend. 1962, kinda cheesy but fun to watch with my son.

Some old-time star power in the movie playing it light - besides Price there's Peter Lorre and Basil Rathbone, Maggie Pierce.

I love these old horrors but not just at Halloween.

I am actually a big fan of the classics too. That's really what got me started with horror movies as a kid...Wolfman, Dracula, Mummy, etc... Big Vincent Price fan too.

The remastered Universal monsters from the 30's

I grew up watching Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, Wolfnaman and all their spin-offs on Saturday morning TV and with Zacherlys clowning around. Even with the cuts, Commcrcials, and the hosts' interjections they were enthralling.

A few years ago I caught the remastered Frankenstein and Dracula. These were uncut, cleand up and given a SOTA remaster treatment. It was a revelation!

It was a totally different experience than the movies I saw on TV as a kid.

The multitude of shades of grey and cinemetograpny in use at the time were stunning. The movie makers at the time really knew how to maximize the use on monochrome. The B&W actually added to the eerieness of the movies and the continuity without commercials made for a wonderful experience.

If you like classics have a look at "The Thing from another world" (1951) I love this one.

I agree. Carpenter's remake is better and more faithful to the original story, but this one holds up really, really well for a 1950s sci-fi flick. It's primarily a Howard Hawks movie (although he isn't credited as director), and Hawks knew a thing or two about making movies.

I like that one too. It is the reason why I watched the '82 one. The only thing disappointing on the 50s one was the creature (I am sure it was cool at the time...). The creature looked like a carrot LOL!
