Has anybody had any experiences with the Sony Direct Stream Digital capable Blu-ray players? I have some DSD CDs and I'm looking for an inexpensive unit to play them on.

DSD CD isn't a format. They are SACDs.

HOW inexpensive and do you need other current capabilities? If you don't care about BD capability or Netflix, etc..., you can pick up an older SACD/DVD-A player pretty cheap these days. There was an older Oppo in the classifieds for a good price and it was a pretty good player at the time.

*edit - looks like that 980H sold.

Sony's DVD and BD players with SACD capability have always been pretty good.

You're right. They are SACD discs that I have. I am moving over to Blu-ray since some of my potential movie purchases are on Blu-ray. [The jury is still deciding about 3D capability _ which is not that much more expensive]. I have no DVD-A disc, so that is no requirement. My present Sony DVD player has been very trouble free.
