Hmm, maybe that 8" HSU-esigned sub that sells for $64 is better?:D

I mean HSU can't design anything bad, can he?
Since you have a Bic sub - buy the monoprice one, or the Sherwood
and do a subwoofer shootout!

From page 10 of their PDF of the link below;

http://www.acousticaudiodirect.com./Powered_Sub_Manual.pdf

Claimed response is 20-250Hz
Senstivity 99db@1W/1M
Shippweight 47 pounds
Amp portions don't match - there are also AA sub from with 12" woofers at 24-250Hz and 35Lbs, but none of them have 150w spec .... the amp looks exactly same - specs of amp are different and I assume driver could be as well..

Sorry - I wish that $84 sub had ANY response at 20hz even f10

I guess I'll be keeping my 10" PSB subsonic5 for a while longer.

Times have changed. :) However, I still have teh disadvantage of living in Canada. I'm guessing it would cost me an additional $150 shipping. I'll give them email as this does looks like a good deal.
Yes, times have changed. Subwoofers are cheaper/better than they used to be. I still don't think one can get a decent subwoofer for $84.10, but I would like to be proven wrong.

Email sent to HSU... If its only a $150 buck's more, I may bite on this.

From HSU..

The base cost + shipping + brokerage fees for (1) VTF-2 MK3 Satin Black shipped via FedEx International Economy service is $743.21 USD. Note that this includes a $40 instant discount on regular base cost, as the unit is currently on sale.

For $750Cdn, I get a sub shipped to me that will hit 20Hz solidly. Is itr possible to beat this performance for the price keeping note that I live in Canada?

Maybe. I guess it depends on how close you are to sonic boom audio or how much they charge for shipping (i don't know your tax rates either):

I guess you could also check out funky waves / funk audio and see what Mr. Funk can do for you at that price.

I think it depends on our definition of "decent".:D

A lot of people find Bose to be "decent".

So perhaps, we could recommend these $64 & $84 subwoofers to people who are thinking about buying Bose cubes or Sony cubes or something.:D

A CSS Quartet 12 will beast over that!!

... Flat Pack Kit....... Assembly required ;P. Or if you only need a sub for a narrow bandwidth from 20hz to 60hz, a Trio 12 Folded Horn Kit or two...

If you tune that thing to 18hz you get a massive amount of port chuffing at higher volumes...which is super annoying. Sounds great when tuned to 25hz though (port plug removed).

I might actually buy one of these to try out in my office setup, and I wouldn't be apposed to sending it in to have Gene, Tom, or Clint review this.

Someone who knows how to measure: buy one, measure it, review it, return it. :)

Bet if Audioholics contacted them to review it they'd go for it. Good press for them (even if it doesn't perform excellent, it may FOR THE DOLLAR be a good buy - in following with Monoprices past of offering nice stuff for cheap).
