Sucker Punch: A Guilty Pleasure

When trying to explain why I liked this movie to my wife, I just gave her the plot synopsis:

Hot chicks fighting robots, Samurai robots, zombies, dragons, orcs, and a killer soundtrack. You know this is making the collection when it comes out on blu-ray!

It got bad reviews, but I actually liked it. Sure the plot was a little silly and didn't make a whole lot of sense, but the fight scenes were hella cool. I can't wait to get the BD so I can slo-mo some of those scenes. People said they hated the music, but I thought it was pretty cool. Especially the Bjork song at the beginning.

The movie needed more Jamie Chung though.

I guess there won't be a sequel, unless they get new chicks.

just saw it, like others said - very cinematic (read CG) fighting scenes which didn't made much sense and somewhat confusing ending....
but yea - chicks a hot...

there's a lot of senseless talk. i would have preferred a no-story movie with tons of action. this one tried to be "deep". meh.

and jamie chung was the hottest one here ... the others only used the "cheerleader" effect of hotness (group of average looking chicks grouped together = seems to be hot group)

p.s. yes, i measure hotness by the size of their ...

I completely agree...movie would have been cool if it performed as advertised in the trailers....there was an appalling amount of slow points that involved the female characters engaging in female whiny talk...the very thing that closes a mans ear drums in an instant...IDK why they added this as the target audience is not women....at least not straight women anyway.

there's been some mumbling that the director is the only person in the world who can take:

1) scantily clad teenage chicks
2) dragons
3) zombies
4) samurai swords
5) tons of guns

and make it boring.

You guys are nuts. I liked it. I've seen WAY worse so-called action blockbusters, (Transformers anyone? ).

Jamie Chung, Samurai with gatling guns, cool music, Carla Gugino, what's not to like?

Watched it last night and I liked it quite a bit too. The story and ending made perfect sense If you didn't get it, you were working out your EYES too much Slow at first yes, but it got interesting once it got going and was entertaining. On the BD the audio track seemed to suffer a bit - it wasn't clear and the level seemed rather low. PQ was good. Definitely a rental in my book, but I enjoyed it.

Never saw that movie but that's crazy! That movie was only 7 years ago and she was a kid. How old was she in Sucker Punch? The deleted scene where she's being seduced by the guy from Mad Men was kinda creepy. That's probably why they took it out, it looked like child molestation. I can't believe she's 23 she's definitely got a baby face.

I didn't realize this but she was also the crazy sister from The Uninvited.

I couldn't get though this one. The disjointed plot, such as it was, wooden characters, and the bad acid trip direction were so bad I gave up after a miserable 30-40 minutes.
