I am currently trying to decide what I should buy for a media room. I will watch primarily sports and movies. My front 3 speakers are Dynaudio (IP22) in-walls, the rears are speakercrafts, and i have velodyne FSR-15 subwoofer.

I do not need any of the bells and whistles the receivers come with. I will never change the surround mode. I already have whole house audio, so all the features of the receivers do not matter. All I care about is decent power to deliver good sound. It would be nice to just have one component, however is the sound is going to be much better getting a separate amp I would consider. Currently I can buy a Yamaha RX-A1000 for $600, or Denon AVR-2311Ci for around $500. Another option i was considering was buying the Yamaha Yamaha RX V867 (with pre-outs) for $400 and buying a used 5-channel amp for around $400. So total of around $800.

please let me know your thoughts

Thanks, Todd

I looked on the Dynaudio site and found the IP24 that are 4 Ohm
150W speakers. Not sure what the IP22 specs are. As you know what every way you go match the speaker specs. In the last 40 years I have have several brands of tube seperates. Times have changed for me as wife and I watch a Lot of HD TV (FIOS) and Bluray movies so a HD AVR works great for us. I have had Great service life from Yamaha AVR in the $1,300.0(retail) price range. Even if you are going to use a seperate amp and use HD AVR as Pre/Pro look at the A2000 and compair it to the A1000 for advanced speaker set up, not sure but one of them has a better selection for adjusting gain to each speaker manual. And up-scale for video etc. Good Luck in your hunt.

I'd go with the single Yamaha A1000 for $600, assuming your room is not a stadium.:D
