Rant much?! LOL.
Also I think he was referring to Virtual Box, which is a Sun developed app that is now Open Source...
Looks like he should be rocking the Intel 925x chipset, which is LGA 775, which may or may not support a C2D CPU, you would have to check to see if there is a BIOS update to support it. If it does support a C2D it would certainly be a worthwhile upgrade. I'm still running an E8400 in my main HTPC and its still a very worthy performer for games, HD video playback and just about anything else you can throw at it.
[strike]macfanboy[/strike] jeffsg4mac PM me if you want me to keep an eye out for a used CPU for you as I'm always lurking on a number of hardcore geek forums where stuff goes cheap all the time. Somewhere in the realm of an E6600 or better would be 2-3x faster than your current CPU.
I think the people that are Mac Zealots don't really have a leg to stand on since Mac decided to ditch the Power PC platform and go to Intel, you gained the ability to natively run Windows, but you lost the bragging rights that go with a more elitist platform.
One things that Mac's don't do well though is corporate integration, and playing well with other devices/systems across a large network....Typically the only place you will find Mac's in a corporate environment is in the marketing department or graphics department, and even then they are off the domain and on their own little network, because thay are a pain in the @$$ to support unless you have a mac server on the backend talking to the nodes....and even then they are still a huge pain. I think this lends credence to the "Mac's are only for goofing around" cleché.
