You have him confused with the democrat party:) Oh wait he is one too. Never mind:rolleyes: Bill Gates is even worse than jobs sad to say.
Well, you don't have to get a permission from Microsoft to install software on your system, like...... hmmmmmm what's the name of that phone again? :p

Well I run Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop as my core platform, so I'm not really relying on Mr. Gates at all......

yes, agree.....
Run Linux: Ubuntu, Open SUSE, Suse Enterprise Desktop, Fedora, Redhat or whatever.....
and run all your other systems in Virtualbox which is Opensource and free and works beautifully......

Well I wiped the Ubuntu off because I was not all that impressed with the speed. This is a 3ghz P4 machine with two gigs or ram and it felt a little slower than I thought it should be. I installed OpenSuse and it is quite a bit faster. Any thoughts on why that would be? Should I try another distro?

Prescott Era P4 Processors are quite slow compared to todays equivalents,
I'd suggest light distro designed for older machines ;) like Xubuntu or DSL :p

You could also try DVL. :p

No but honestly another distro you might like that is very fast is FreeBSD, it has "ports" which is amazing as it is applications from basically every other distro ported into FreeBSD.
