Emotiva Silver Plates

With a little push from NOMO, I took off the silver plates on the XPA-5 and the UMC-1. They both look really clean this way, with our set up. Not everyone would want to do this. I didn't order the black plates, because they look nice and smooth the way they are, with just the silver screws put back on.:D Thanks NOMO.

I think they look fine either way, but I'm leaning towards the plateless look more :D

Looks better without silver plates. More high end looking.

That Nomo sure can decorate.

Wait until you hear his color selections for flip flops. :D

I guess I'll try this tonight to see how it looks in my rack.

One pink, and one blue.
Keeps my options open. :D

I left the silver trim off for about a year before I bought the black ones.
I think it looks better with the black trim than nothing at all, but I'm not sure it's a $20 improvement.
I did also use black anodized scews.

I like mine better with the silver sides. To each his own.

A little rattle can paint and you can put the originals back on in black or any other color you can find :)

I bought the black ones

With the glass doors closed, I could see the silver. With the black ones on, all you see are the LEDs. I personally don't like the look without the end plates, but IMO, the end plates were an opportunity for them to make a bigger statement than what they did with them.

(that was the frist day I had it, and yes they come with black screws that I later put on)

That's a great idea too j. Like I said, it depends on the person or the equipment. Our equipment had no silver except the Emo's. So it worked for us, with the black look. I think it's interesting, that we have different ways of changing the looks of the face plates to our own preferences. Adds a little interest to the set ups.

I like it without the plates and just the silver screws, makes it looks much higher end IMO

I think the trim works with my setup, but I never was a classy guy. :p

Maybe I need to try it without just to see. If I put the grills on and black out the cabinet legs it might look all Darth Vader.

Very cool look w/o the silver plates. Never occured to me that I could take them off. But this is one inexpensive and easy 'upgrade'. Good stuff.

To each his own and different strokes for different folks.:D

But I also think that the Emotiva amps and pre-pros look 100% better without those plates (silver or black).:D

I also want to add that VTI makes the best looking racks for the money! :)

The trim is an easy change, The cabinet would cost way to much to buy one and ship so I'm stuck with home made. I tried it before with the old speakers and didn't like it but it might work with these.

I really torn between your two setups...I will say it looks more imposing and badass with all the silver. All black has a really nice clean look though

I think I like the silver better but both look fantastic. Awesome setup! I have the black plates on order for my XPA-2 and 3.

I'm just surprised that you can cram them in like that without over heating the amps.

The amps run very cool. It's the UMC-1 that runs hot but seems to do OK. The back is open so it can vent.
