Speakers and the way they look... it matters.

The Orion is alright from the front, but I just don't consider exposed dynamic driver backs to be very appealing in a living room. Looks like it belongs in a test facility of a scientist or engineer. No way an interior designer will give the thumbs up.
No interior designer will approve the backs/rears of any speaker with all those binding posts and wires.

No interior designer will approve the backs of any audio racks and TV stands either.:D

But who's looking at the back side anyway except for Audioholics?

I'm concerned about what future alien invaders will think about speakers like the Wilson Alexandrias. Are they hologram generators? Space-travel teleportation devices? Perhaps even idols of worship? I mean, seriously:

You are right. They look like some creatures from space. If I saw those in the dark, it would probably scare me.:D

I like the way the alexandrias look to an extent but their bass section is too disproportionate.

Another funky looking speaker I like is the Snell A7 Illusion.

I'm guessing Acapella speakers aren't on your "want" list...

They sure aint pretty. I like avant garde but those KEFs have no sense of.. 'initial design planning'. the 'head' looks just tacked on... no blend.

Getting modular speakers looking nice to my eyes is is tough. Thats why I stick to OnePieceBeasts:

Snell Phantoms are unquestionably the best speaker I have ever heard. They have redefined what I think a speaker should be and defined what I could never afford.

Racks arent' forced to have open backs (many don't), and they definitely are not sticking out into the room by several feet. The Orions will want at least a few feet from the front wall. I suppose, if you can swing it, have them facing the entrance. I for one would be forced to have them with their backs to the entrance.

I like that.:D

We need to match the speakers to other pics/drawings/cartoons. I like the cat one and the battlestar galactica robot.
