I went to a PSB dealer in Edmond and auditioned the $2K/pr PSB Imagine T towers.
First, the room acoustics and speaker placement didn't do any favors for the PSB; I did try to improve the placement a little.
I brought along the usual suspects of songs including Hotel California, Smallville soundtrack, Deadzone soundtrack, 4400 soundtrack, and a few other songs - no classical music this time though.
I hear about "sweet spots" all the time, but I usually don't notice its significance. However, the first thing I noticed about the Imagine T was that once I moved out of that sweet spot, the sound-image shifted with me. For instance, when I moved to the right a little, the voice shifted from Center to Right. It didn't shift much when I moved Left though.
The Bass - I thought it had sufficient bass for music. Not as good as the BP7001/7000, Orion, Salon2, or RBH T2/P, but about the same as the Infinity P362, which is very good. I did not think it was "boomy".
The Treble - I thought the highs were clear and smooth; I didn't think it was "harsh" or "irritating".
The Midrange - I thought the midrange was also clear and smooth. The resolution and details were very good.
I listened for about 1 hour.
Overall, I would say that the Imagine T speakers are quite "fun". They did not sound "boring" or "disgusting" or "flat". They sounded realistic and just fun.
So afterwards, I went home and fired up my wimpy Denon AVR391 & lowly Infinity P362 speakers.
I listened for about 1 hr. I got out the SPL meter and set for the peak volume to be 85dBA (Hotel California & Superman). On my AVR391, it was set to -10dB. On my AVP-A1HD + AT3005, the volume is set to -18.5dB to get the peak volume to 85dBA.
I will say this - I think the Infinity P362 sitting in my family room is the best loudspeaker deal of the century @ $300/pr!
Not only did the P362s matched the Imagine T's resolution, detail, clarity, smoothness, and bass, the P362s' sound-stage and imaging was dead centered whether I moved left or right of the sweet spot.
I am extremely proud to say I own a pair of the Infinity P362! After listening to all the speakers I have listened to, I am still so impressed with the P362.
But the PSB Imagine T speakers are very good speakers and they are actually fun to listen to. I was not disappointed.
