It seems to work for me even without the scart cable. So even if I plug in a bog standard RCA video cable I still get DTS (or supposed DTS).
But it does seemed a bit "matrixed" across the front speakers perhaps. What is the cheapest solution to get true DTS?
Is it true DTS if I do get different "channels" out of the 5 speakers (like voice only in the center speaker)?
Also in the DVD player menu I can choose both PCM & raw and these both seem to work fine. By the way the sound I;m getting is not Prologic though there's an option for that too.
Thanks again
You can not pass DTS down an analog RCA cable. So you are listening to some type of matrix. I can not find data on your unit.
You can pass lossy DTS 5.1 and or lossy Dolby digital 5.1 down both toslink optical and RCA 75 ohm digital.
You can only pass Dolby true HD and DTS Mater HD via HDMI.
If your unit has certified DTS 5.1 codecs Dolby digital 5.1 codecs, then you can pass those true multi channel audio streams via optical or 75 ohm RCA from a satellite box cable box, an over the air digital TV tuner or DVD player. You can send it as either PCM or bitstream what ever your unit will accept.
You can not send this stream from most TVs
You set the latter up in the on screen menu of the sending device.
If your unit is not DTS and Dolby certified and licensed you will be out of luck.
You can only transmit from a BD player via HDMI unless your unit has multichannel analog inputs, to send discrete audio channels after the player does the conversion. You could only send the video if you unit has component video inputs. So your unit and the player would have to have multichannel audio outs inputs and outputs respectively and component outputs and inputs for video.
Basically what it boils down to now there is a forcing of HDMI for high def video and audio, to all intense and purposes. A unit without HDMI is pretty much worthless and obsolete for high definition video and audio.
So you got yourself a raw deal I suspect.
I could not download a manual for your unit. I found a link, but it kept giving me error. It sounds as if your unit is even lower down the food chain than anything marketed here and that is quite an achievement. Can you send me a link where I could download a manual?
