Uh... AMD hasn't been competitive since the Core2Duo dropped. By what basis do you think AMD is going to pull a rabbit out of their hat this round? There isn't a single credible shred of evidence that Bulldozer is going to even be competitive with the last gen i7.
If AMD had a monster they'd be busy leaking benchmarks to generate interest and get people to wait for Bulldozer.
Unfortunately for AMD, I hearly agree 100% with above.
They there the first to do x86-64, first to introduce dual core on desktops (x2-3800 - which I still rock at home
), first to include memory controller on die and lastly first (at least in design) to include GPU in same die.
I don't know what happen to the AMD innovation genius , but they must pull the rabbit out of hat soon, since even now same priced processor at my price point - $200 - Intel cpu basically kills AMD's at everything, save for couple heavy multi-tasked specialized apps (rare and few).
