Wanna see a sales brocure for the cars you've owned? Then click here.

It may not be 100% and only has American iron, but it's still excellent.

That just made me realize that I've been driving beaters my whole life. I owned a '58 Ford pick up with a 292 cubic inch motor down in Texas (no A/C). That thing ran hot all the time but it ran. I bought it for $600 in '85. I was in the process of bead blasting a 2 barrel intake and rebuilding a carb to upgrade the 1 barrel job I had on there when I dropped everything and moved to Canada.

The truck was just back up for my '76 Dasher. That was a beater too.

It was a beast after the 302 install with the three speed hurst upgrade, but still a work truck none the less.

57 Dodge Coronet, in 67, from my Pop.

Huge piece of metal with a 29.95 Earl Schieb (sp?) orange peel special paint job that ten years later decided to go on a diet and slowly turn into oxide, starting with the rocker panels and floorboards. It had a flathead 6 and Fred Flintstone brakes.

I started with a 1966 VW fastback in 1978. It had a 6V battery and a bad carb. So it would stall out every time I stopped and wouldn’t start back up. Can’t tell ya how many intersections I pushed that POS through. It was air cooled so basically no heat in NY. Oh the good ol’ days. 4 6x9 Jenson coaxial speakers installed by way of sticking the magnets to the metal frame. They never did fall off though.

Mine wasn’t in this good of shape, but this is what it looked like.

My first car was a 1969 Pontiac Firebird, awesome first car. My Dad got it for me about a year before I got my license and swore that I was going to wash all the paint off of it before I could drive it.

1969 Dodge Dart. It belonged to my Grandpa and was given to me when he passed away. That car had great memories because it reminded me of driving around with Grandpa. The old slant V-6 motor it had ran forever and I beat the crap out of that car. I don't know if I ever even changed the oil.

The one I had was yellow and had volcano shaped rims. Pretty lame but hey it was free. I even got my girlfriend in the back seat a few times. :D

A friend of ours just found my wife's first car about an hour from where we live. It's her old car, not one like it, THE CAR, a 1965 Ford Mustang convertible. My wife wants it obviously, and sure it would be fun, but it needs a complete restoration (that'd be a easy $20-$30K!!!), so buying the car would be the absolute cheapest part of the whole project! The current owner doesn't know it was my wife's car, as that would make the price go up, and he's not priced it yet... so who knows. Also, we are in a temporary home now, and our garage is already chalked full, so there's no place to put it, but it would be nice to have her original Mustang back. I'm pondering what to do. May just rent a storage garage in town and get the car and put it in there. It'd be cool to get it done and surprise her but can't do it all now...

It was a slant straight six and a good engine.

Mine was a 1948 Alvis TA 21 Grey Lady. I spotted one at the Goodwood revival a couple of years ago.

Paid 40 GBP for it in 1967. I had to pull the transmission to replace the clutch and pull the head for a burnt valve.

It had a 3 Lt straight six, dual carbs and four on the floor, with a very sporty shift.

You had to be careful as the ground clearance was only 7 12 inches.

My second car was a Chevy Bel Air. 350 cu. in. V8. Price $3500 CND new.

My first car was a 1972 Fiat 124 Spyder

Mine was Mediterranean Blue, but I found this nice photo of a red one.

I bought it in Italy while I was stationed there in the Navy. I took it back to the US and left it with my father while I was sent to Alaska. In Alaska I bought a used 1968 VW Squareback that had seen better days, but worked well enough for 2 years until I got out of the service. In the Alaska winters, I became an expert at scraping ice off of the windshield, as the heat didn't come on unless you drove for 45 minutes.

I was reunited with the Fiat 124 and took it to Connecticut where I learned first hand that Fiat means Fix It Again Tony. That car was a fair weather car :(; in Connecticut there was so much salt put on the roads in the winters, that the Fiat developed an advanced case of terminal body rust.

Seeing that Dodge Dart reminded me of my father's 1964 Dart with the slant 6 engine. I learned to drive on that car. It was ugly but indestructible.

My first one was a Buick Opel Kadette, 1967, bought used with about 80K miles which I doubled before junking it. It wasn't fast, leaked oil, lousy carb, but it made a lot of trips and carried a lot of stuff.
