Fedex driver arrived today and I see him out my window and he's looking around and looks at my home thinking, "how am I going to get that up there?" I yell out the door to see if needs some help and I get a "oh yes, please!"

I walk down to his truck and first see his broken dolly. He said he first tried using the metal dolly, but it broke the bottom off - so far, so good ;)!

Then I see the box, thinking it's the wrong one because it's so freakin' huge. We lifted it up into the garage where it currently sits. I'm waiting for the rest of the speakers to show up and then we'll get the show rolling. The packaging itself is very good - double-boxed with heavy padding inside the inner box. He said it weighed 125 lbs.

I'll post back later w/pics and a review once everything is in place. The new setup includes the new Yammy RX-A3000, Oppo BDP-93 (w/latest firmware installed -came w/disk and nothing new online since) and the new Verus from Aperion (waiting....). The Panny Plasma still looks great (no 3D, but don't want/need it for now).

This will be replacing a now retired 18 yr. old Yamaha system. I've got all goods standing by - SACD from Diana Krall and a Casino Royale BD.

Any other reference music or BD I should be sampling :)? My prefs are wide-ranging (Miles Davis to The Killers to The Who), so I'm interested to see how these speakers handle varied music styles and HT.

Congratulations! You're in for a treat.

My subwoofer workout list:
Marcus Miller "M²"
Soul Ballet "Trip The Night Fantastic" which is a good overall speaker and subwoofer workout.
Gaudi "Bass, Sweat and Tears" which is impossible to find but digs loooow.

Dr Hsu used the 'ghost banging on the bedroom door' scene from The Haunting to demo shaking the heck out of the demo room. :D

Congrats!! :) If you like classical, try finding the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky on a Telarc label and hang on.

Funny thing...was just looking at that trying to decide on the version. I think one uses a digital canon vs. recorded. I once had a Physics class in college that played the 1812 on our first day. This was the physics of Hi-fi - no joke - the speakers were built by a former student and they rocked the room (small auditorium). One of the best classes in college and provided a great understanding of all things audio w/ hands-on lab equipment.

Congrats!! :) If you like classical, try finding the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky on a Telarc label and hang on.

It's not so much the weight as getting a handle on it. The thing almost weighs as much as I do. I'm a lightweight - good for some things (cycling up hills), not as much for others - lifting subs apparently.

Quit bragging and get over here and help me get it setup ;)

There was no way I could "carry" my Empire either. I just put it on some cardboard and slid it around.

Translation:
I wasn't around when my UPS driver delivered my sub and he dumped it and got the hell out of there before anyone showed up to ask him to help carry it into the house! I cried like a little school girl, but since I had no choice, I moved them myself!

I will be glad to help you if you live in FTW. Mine was actually delivered by an 18 wheeler and I offered the driver 25 bucks to help me carry it into the house. He helped me but refused the money. I think spent the next few hours flipping the box around, got the subs out and slid them around on a towel until they were in place.

I wish you could have seen me cycling up hills last week. We were on the nastiest switchbacks that climbed forever, I think my average mph was around 2.

I kinda wish I lived there on some days (assuming FTW,TX), but not today. If I see the FedEx guy today, I may ask him for a little assistance. One good turn deserves another :D. I don't want to damage it or I'd try to gently roll it up the stairs myself.

They have hills in FTW? ;) Come out West, your 2 will be 1 :). My average right now is none - maybe I need to put my trainer in front of the new system :).

You guys with your piddly little 120lb subs...man up:p Take a 20 out of your wallet and tell the delivery guy what room you want it in.

It's not the weight, it's the shape of the weight.

The FedEx guy was on his last leg (and dolly) and he was happy to be rid of it, so I wasn't going to push it. Besides, my neighbor is free :) (I helped him down his stairs with his 58" Plasma and 200 lb console).

That's why I built my sub in the basement...

I just had to push it to the other end of the room :D
