My sub is listed at 127lbs and I moved it from the bed of my truck into the house and through the house by myself. I had my audio muscles on that day!:D

Hope you like the Hsu!

Ok - well, I finally got it inside the house after a little help...I know, I know...we're all just little dwarfs that can't lift our subs  (no offense to any dwarfs out there, really).

I now have this piece of furniture in the corner of my room that looks great, if not LARGE, but is a little lonely and is waiting for some friends in the higher frequency ranges :) - Aperion???. My cable wasn't quite long enough, so a new one is coming from Monoprice. I'm impressed with the great instructions it came with that are in clear English with explanations about the why's and wherefore's of all the settings. I can't really imagine two of these in one room. I did plug it in just to make sure it was getting juice.

I'll get a few pics this week. Stay tuned for more...

I walk down to his truck and first see his broken dolly. He said he first tried using the metal dolly, but it broke the bottom off - so far, so good ;)!
Man, that's rough!

Fedex driver arrived today and I see him out my window and he's looking around and looks at my home thinking, "how am I going to get that up there?" I yell out the door to see if needs some help and I get a "oh yes, please!"

I walk down to his truck and first see his broken dolly. He said he first tried using the metal dolly, but it broke the bottom off - so far, so good ;)!

Then I see the box, thinking it's the wrong one because it's so freakin' huge. We lifted it up into the garage where it currently sits. I'm waiting for the rest of the speakers to show up and then we'll get the show rolling. The packaging itself is very good - double-boxed with heavy padding inside the inner box. He said it weighed 125 lbs.

I'll post back later w/pics and a review once everything is in place. The new setup includes the new Yammy RX-A3000, Oppo BDP-93 (w/latest firmware installed -came w/disk and nothing new online since) and the new Verus from Aperion (waiting....). The Panny Plasma still looks great (no 3D, but don't want/need it for now).

This will be replacing a now retired 18 yr. old Yamaha system. I've got all goods standing by - SACD from Diana Krall and a Casino Royale BD.

Any other reference music or BD I should be sampling :)? My prefs are wide-ranging (Miles Davis to The Killers to The Who), so I'm interested to see how these speakers handle varied music styles and HT.

Threads like this one make me extra glad I have the SVS CS-Ultra subwoofers:

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_9_2/svs-cs-ultra-subwoofers-5-2002.html

Putting the subwoofer in a cylinder allows for the sides to be thinner while maintaining strength, thus reducing weight, and having the power amp separate also keeps the weight down. They are a svelte 72 pounds each. And their shape allows them to be grabbed tolerably well. I never have any need to have anyone help me move them.

Larger diameters of woofers do not necessarily make them better. If it did, this cheap subwoofer would be better still:

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/MCM-CUSTOM-AUDIO-555-10325-/555-10325

But, of course, displacement of air is more than just a matter of diameter; it is also a function of stroke.
Right now i must say i have a medium room and a 12incher can be ok..but i must think in long term..soon ill be moving and i will need more powerfull drivers and yes more SPL..from what the guys suggested me here 15inchers and i know it will give me better SPL then 12inchers...and honestly at this price...wow HSU are you out of your mind?...lol...i am waiting on the OP to make a review also!....:p

If anyone is telling you that 15" subwoofers necessarily give you greater SPL than 12" subwoofers, then they literally do not know what they are talking about. It is as silly as imagining an engine with a larger piston diameter necessarily puts out more power.

Also, with subwoofers, there is much more to consider than maximum SPL. For example, there is frequency response to consider, as some subwoofers do not go as deep as others. If you are just wanting maximum SPL and don't care about anything else, you should look for a professional subwoofer designed for filling a large room with sound.

oh well i think your not getting it....15inchers will give me SPL and also good SQ..15inchers are as quick and fast as 12inchers these days.....thats what we call evolution....but thx i got your point...i have had a mission 8incher...a paradigm ps-1000 (10 incher)...a paradigm dsp-3400(14 incher) a paradigm seismic12(12incher with a much more powerfull amp)..and now i own a paradigm sub12...ok can you see since the start i always upgrated?...now im moving on to the 15inchers...thx again.

Clouso, if you're in Canada, look at a company called Funkywaves, they can make you a sub that will cost less than your Paradigm which will absolutely destroy its performance. For Canadians, I think they provide a better value than even a VTF-15H. Take a look at the 15.1, that would have insane output, and because FW uses the best drivers, it would have very low distortion as well.

Ok i recieved the email back already from HSU...does the base cost+ shipping+brokerage fees means its the final price? what the hell is brokerage fees?..lol..i hate beeing french canadian sometimes..lol...the price it would cost me?...it would be 1105.23$ USD..in satin black or 1225.23$ in rosenut....selling my sub12 for 1350.........and then after the cost of those HSU'S are lower then the paradigm's do you get it?...:)

I have a few pics of the sub in place. I'll be doing some cable management, but this is where it's at for now before doing some listening tests and such. The Verus will be here tomorrow :) and it probably won't be until the weekend before I can get it all hooked up.

Looks nice! Debating about getting one. Do you have a shot that gives more of a sense of scale?
