Epik Amplifier Going Bad?

This happened in November 2009
Something might be wrong with the amp on my Phoenix I keep my amp in "auto-on" mode and had the Jazz cable station on like I often do and at pretty low level. I noticed the amp light was red "stand by" and normally at the volume it is always enough to trigger it on and keep it on. I then turned up the volume and still nothing was coming out of the sub! I kept turning it up until I got near reference level and it suddenly kicked in. Before turning up the volume, I switched it into the "on" mode and I still had nothing coming out. I also noticed that the amp plate was not as warm as it usually is.

Anyone have any idea what happened here?

This happened again today
This happened to my Phoenix again today alittle over a year since the last incident! I turned the sub completely off for over 3 hours then turned it back on and nothing
Remembering what I had to do last time, I put on "Bass I love You" and turned it way up. I heard the amplifier click and the subwoofer kicked back on. Now everything seems fine again

What the heck may be going on here?

Thanks

The amp is the only issue I have with my Empire so far. It does take a second before it picks up the signal from the receiver and it has done that since day 1. It also has a rather loud pop when it dumps when it shuts off about 10 min of no activity.

My Phoenix does not "pop" at all. There is a bit of a delay picking up a signal at first, but nothing substantial.
This "relay" problem (or whatever it is) is the first real issue I have had.
