Receiver speaker assignment

I have a Yamaha Rx-v863 and currently run a 7.2 setup. I'm moving to a smaller place that will only allow a 5.2 setup. When assigning speakers in a 5.1, do I use the Side LR, or Rear LR's, or does it even matter...?

You should use the L&R surround (side) not rear. Sorry about the smaller dwelling.
