Heres the front waiting to get it's second coat and the wall paper brush treatment, I think it's funny to start with the pink but that's how the recipe calls for it to be done, lol, kinda kewl don't ya think.

I knew it wasn't staying pink but I didn't expect that. Way cool man.

It reminds me of the shelf I built except for the fact that I used an old can of concrete paint, an old dried out brush and spent 3 minutes on it.

It may seem a bit overboard for something that will only have two and one half inches showing all around the out side edges after the Pio goes back, but hey it was a first for me and I wanted to be totally different from store bought stuff, now that I have practice my AV cabinet (credenza) will be made to match.

Can't wait to see the credenza. The panel mount looks super cool.

I am going to start the final coat on the front today and hang this beautiful Monoprice wall mount, my son will be here for the weekend so I will get the help I need to mount the Pio 500M, I am getting somewhat anxious to do just that as this is my Football viewing room and I miss it,lol. This is the tilting mount from mono somewhere around 39 dollars, just can't beat the product anywhere anytime no way, and I also got two of those handy 90 degree HDMI plugs male to female so that I can go straight through the build into the hollow cavity behind. I think since the center channel will set right under the display I can make a three inch w by one inch deep channel out of birch and take it from the bottom of my build to the top of the base board to run two HDMI cables, I will simply paint it yellow to match the wall behind and call it a day only two or three inches of it will show so it will surely disappear. I want to avoid the idea of running the HDMI inside the wall cavity only because there are already two dedicated 20 amp circuits(Remember my EMO:() and a 15 amp that runs around the perimeter of the room, I would prefer to stay away from all that just to kind of isolate the HDMI some.
I came off the 15 amp circuit with a 14/2 and put a receptacle inside of the wood mount so that the power cord for the Pio had it's own home nothing else really on that run except an occasional sweeper or reading lamp.

Well I certainly feel better now .
I am always trying to help the economy sometimes I forget about my own.

I actually paid 32.00 so I feel good about it now, did you (P-DWG) catch a sale on that item when you bought it?

Here is the front finished up and drilled out to accept the bolts for the MonoMount.

3/8 T Nuts to fit in the pre-drilled holes, 8 total then thru the front with the bolts.

The mount in place and the bolts all torqued up nice and tight like.

I painted the box build that attaches the assembly to the wall with the same color as the wall and I must say the pics do no justice this thing looks like it is floating in air in person the yellow blends so well, it's cool :D

Just gotta love the kuro.
I hope I don't get too comfortable with this upgrade only half way there. I think that would only lead to more procrastinating on my end, man this stuff takes time, I need Alex for six hours ( Carpentry Skills Only ! ) :)

I think I'd like to do something similar. The box I envision would be just a little bigger than the mount and painted the same color as the wall which would be dark red (bolero SW7600).

It's darker and redder than what my computer screen shows.
Rick wanted me to go with hot pink but I said no. :D

I figure the box only needs to be the size of the mount and that would add the the illusion of the TV floating in free space. Now it's my turn to thank you for the inspiration. I meant to ask you if you are EQ'ing the Kappas with a Behringer 2496.

I am doing the best I can with the 2496 but there is so so much more to learn about that device could take the rest of my HT days to get it all figured out.
I like your idea for the floater and I really like that color I wanted to do that whole back wall behind the panel a reddish color but that didn't go over too well, hence the color is as you see, I'll deal with it, oh yeah today my better half had me build a few picture frames to match the color of the Panel mount I'll snap a pic tomorrow morning, I told her where Michaels arts and crafts store was located then I ordered pizza.

Hey sawz, maybe all decisions have been made and are final, but just in case they aren't, what do you think of black? Black floats the best I think. I just used Behr Mouse Ears paint, and even though it is more reflective than I hoped for (I shoulda stuck with original choice of Rosco supersaturated velour #6003 I think the number was), but it really floats when there isn't direct light. Like "hey where does the ceiling end?".

Even better, but more expensive, would be velvet. I just received Fidelio velvet from Seymour AV, and the stuff is used for the inside of telescopes it's so darn light absorbing. I've checked out Joanns for velvet, they had three grades, and only the most expensive would be even worth it for HT, and that was a tad bit more than the Fidelio, and thus my choice was made for me:

Here are some test figures Seymour did on various black materials:

just throwin' that out there, just in case, ya know, cheers . . . and keep it coming . . .

Something tells me you live alone. :p :)
Have you ever noticed that essentially every screen border in the world, no matter a +$200 Focupix, or +$4K Stewart, has a black border?

Have you ever noticed that the one single thing that BMX consistently and vehemently harps on to the DIY screen makers is to make sure there is a black velvet frame?

Do you honestly believe that this unique floating mount was actually a popular item to be commercially built, that it would not overwhelmingly be black by %?

I scanned photos, and didn't find a mockup of the display on the mount. I did not take the effort to find dimensions, let alone comparing these to the KRP500M's, which I also did not look up.

A deep black border has the potential to make the world's greatest 50" television ever made, no matter if you're Bill Gates or the King of Saudi Arabia, to look like a 70" tv recessed a couple of feet into the wall, rather than a 50" stuck out a couple of feet from the wall. The giveaway I think of is reflectivity from the glass during daylight, but since this is the greatest TV ever made, maybe the chances are better than what I'm even thinking of.

Which do you think wives would approve of?

Seriously though, I'm pretty tired of you haggling me on such things in my personal life; particularly when the advice I honestly/authentically give is not only polite as I can possibly make it to begin with, but when it's unique to the thread topic, among our so many posters, or whatever. You know, after jokes about you guys being gay or what.

That's the last time (yes, it's been enough times). I already forgave you for calling me pretentious. Next time = instant ignore, and that's at AVS too. No, I'm really fed up. Well, maybe I'm not all that fed up, but I said it, and so it will happen. I had one member here on my ignore list for about 2 years; he had way more rep for way longer than I did.

I think GO-NAD! mighta busted my balls too, but it was once. I don't think he will in his build thread though. Please don't bust my balls when I give good, honest, and unique advice in someone else's thread. I have not insulted your knowledge in any of these matters, please take note. Laters.

edit: I'm on 5hrs sleep for several nights in a row, but I mean every word of it still.
