Hi Everyone,

Very new at this here.
I've been considering the Klipsch HD-300 5.1 system, as it seems to be selling on amazon for under 300$.
I'll need to add a receiver and all the cables, so I'm assuming the entire system will be around 450$ or so, with a cheap receiver.

I'm pretty much thinking of following the advice from this post:

There's another system for sale, an Onkyo HT-S3300 5.1 system with the receiver included, for 320$

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-S3300-5-1-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B003BEDQR6/ref=acc_glance_e_ai_purchase_similarities_t_8

I'm just wondering if there are any other options out there I should consider instead of the Klipsch? Reviews all seem to be very positive for the Klipsch, and since I want these for my relatively small bedroom, I don't need that much power.

Thanks for you help and advice!

IMHO, you would be just as well served to get a 2.1 system with good monitors.

What is going to be the main function of this system? What will be your sources?

I'm starting to think a 2.1 system would probably be sufficient for my purposes, and cost far less.
The system would be in my bedroom, connected to my pc. I've got two 23" wide screen monitors, so I'd just watch a couple movies/listen to music/play games.

Source would therefore be the optical out from the on-board soundcard on my motherboard (gigabyte ud5).

I wanted to get the 5.1 as I was imagining it could be useful within 2 years or so when/if I get myself a proper tv. Might be better for me to just get some bookcase speakers and get a nicer HT system when I need it/have a bigger budget...

Any suggestions for decent quality/relatively cheap speakers then? A 2.1 or even 2.0 would probably suffice...
