Yes, it's refub, but refub was done by manufacturer itself - Onkyo and it is guaranteed exactly like a new product for one year...
Have no fear

Well right after my post I started reading threads related to the primus p362's and they were all so glowing, I decided to buy them. Then I came back here and read you pst dkane. Oh well. I think I'm gonna be happy with the infinities. Thanks for the reply though. Now onto cables, and all that other BS.

cables are simple, just get some decent ones from monoprice, fancy cables really make no difference in sound quality

Thanks yep. Any suggestions on a brand or type of cable I can just drive over to fry's or best buy and pick up? Don't feel like messing with shipping on such a small item.

i dont think brand is important, if your looking for speaker cable any decent 16 ga. wire will do as long as the runs are less then 50ft. as far as A/V cables go decent thick, shielded cables will work, just avoid the super skinny ones (like the ones that come in the box of a dvd player) in my experience, especially with video those things seem to be an antenna for interference. paying extra money for a "super special snake oil" cable will yield no benefits. no matter how shiny that package is i cannot stress that enough. with cables intended to carry a digital signal, like optical or coax SPDIF, interference generally is not an issue considering it take a large amount of analog interference to interfere with a digital signals integrity. digital signals usually either work right or don't work at all. interference is also a non issue with speaker cables because the amount of analog noise it would take to change the signal would be enough RF to microwave you.

Lol, based on what I've read, you should love the P362's. If you have any buyers remorse (which you shouldnt) you should just remember that its your first? pair of nice speakers, and there will be many more to come! :D

lol dude i wouldn't worry about that. you got a good price. there is no guarantee that you would find a good deal on craigslist...or if you did, it could easily be too good to be true. you could find yourself wasting time to check out some damaged or broken speakers that weren't advertised as such.

Got it.

OK, I got all the pieces and got them hooked up and have listened to the system for two days.

I used normal 16 gauge speaker wire. I attached a picture of how I have it set up.

I have listened to rock, rap, hip hop, reggae, classic country, jazz, blues, and classical.

I have the bass and treble knobs set at the midway point.

And I have to say, so far the system is everything I set out to get. Not too expensive. Sounds good. Is just for music. Fills the room. Has some pop. It really shines playing some jazz. Its also fun to play something with a little bass because It comes through clean. It sounded good playing music off the music channels on UVerse. The football game sounded good on it. My IPhone playing Pandora sounded good. Havent had a chance to play a high bit-rate mp3 yet. But I imagine the music channels coming out of UVerse are pretty decent. I need to get an XM receiver.

I have two questions:

There are two banks of terminals labeled speaker set A and speaker set B. I have both speakers plugged into the speaker set A bank. I have the Ohm impedance set to 8. And I have speaker set B turned off on the tuner. Am I only getting 50 watts to each speaker? A buddy was talking about bridging the two speaker sets to get a full 100 watts to each speaker.

Question two. Is there a way to adjust the mid-range on this tuner? I like to make the snare pop out.

Oh one other thing; The feet, they are just bare plastic on the bottom. They packed some rubber sticky things for the feet but they don't fit. the rubber sticky things only fit the extra round feet they packed... Those little silver oval shaped feet came with nothing... Anybody know whats up with that?

You've got a very good system for what you spent! Good, clean layout, too!

Your next priority needs to be doing something to kill some of the reflections in that room!!!:eek:

The bare sheet rock walls and bare floor will impair your sound quality.
I'd be looking for more carpet as a start.

Cheers,

You're getting all the power available connected the way you have it.

You might want to play around with speaker placement some, it may bring the mid-range out to your liking. Also, investing in a sub later on and setting a 80hz crossover will take some strain off the 6.5" mid-bass drivers by not having to reproduce the deeper bass.

Something like the above mentioned Parts Express Sub-120 or a Premier Acoustics PA-120

Nice, Manther!

The only thing is...I'm having a hard time really making out much in the attached thumbnail...can you provide a clearer closeup of the TX-8555 perhaps? And your room and system look like a really nice two-channel listening area & setup one would see on even the audiophile sites; nice! My 8555 is on a Bell'O audio tower with a bunch of other audio components in my 2-channel room.

Do you use the receiver for TV audio as well? Or is this strictly 2-channel music listening?

Thanks! I don't like clutter. Yeah the wife wants to get a new bigger rug. I guess this is a good opportunity. I doubt she'd go for putting anything on the walls.

I'm with you on investing in a sub. I think maybe Christmas. I really don't know what a crossover does or how to start looking for one. But, I'm interested.

I got a closer picture on me, but its not too clear. It was low light and the iphone has no flash. Check the attachment. When the 8555 wouldn't fit in our little table my wife started thinking about a low small entertainment center. I hooked the tuner up to the TV, and watched the San Diego / Kansas game. Obviously didn't have a surround sound quality to it. But it had a deeper register than my Aquios. And had an overall bigger sound.
