It went away...

... as long as I don't put my ear up to the speaker:D
Those things look awesome, absolutely beautiful subs. Did you discover the cause of the hum or has it just become one of those minor issues now ?

The only major change I can see is the sub is now located directly beside the Rotel amp.
The sub still draws power from the same wall outlet?

You mentioned that you only hear the hum when you have your ear up to the speaker. How close do you have to be to notice it and if you have no source input does the hum increase in amplitude as you increase the volume? I understand for it to be normal to be able to hear a very low level hum out of the speakers if you are within like 6"-12" from the drivers. I had noticed something similar long ago and basically got told not to worry about it. Here's the thread.

I have to have my ear ~6 inches from the speaker. The hum does not increase in amplitude as I increase the volume.

Maybe it was there before but I don't think so. The right speaker, which is by the sub, is a tad worse then the left.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

20hz tune and sub calibrated flat, no room comp.

-17 db on the AVR with "0" = 75db.

Over the top bass at that level. Carolyn was just shaking her head, I laughed a lot and was scared a couple of time.

What movie did you watch, and what tune are the subs in?

Hi there PD! Congrats on getting the second Ultra! I still get a smile from my mojo (ur I mean stack LOL!) The out put is downright scary.:D The other evening I was pumping some bass heavy eltronica, and my wife came running in the room complaining that the bass was going to damage the house. She said her closet walls were making some strange creaking sounds. It made my day.:D I've been all the way to -5 db from reference (0=reference=85dB) on selected bass heavy movie scenes (Kung Fu Panda Skidooh for example). THe SPL meter was hitting 113-114 dB uncorrected (c-weighted fast MAX not engaged) and the scene centered around 25 Hz. Corrected would be about 117 dB. The Ultras will take reference level in my room, but holy crap is that loud. I only push it occaisionally, and for brief spurts. Enjoy!

Give Valkyrie a spin, and crank it when they are in the bomb cellar....

I tried to get WOW but my BlockBuster doesn't have it in BD.

I got Green Zone for tonight.
PD, WOTW should be an essential part of anyone's BD collection! Go to BB and buy it. The dual Ultras will make you grin.;)

Just use it as a demo disc :)
Finally got a break from work to sneak back to AH. You guys are nuts working in the attic during August. I'm looking at adding in-walls to my master bedroom, but I'm not doing it until November.

I agree that WoW and Avatar (video) should be in the demo disc category.

ok, ok...I will go get it...

Geeezzz...the pressure around here. BTW...I am not sure I can handle more than what I got with 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief'. It was just crazy out of control.

Batton down the hatches with WOTW. Use a bit of caution at first as the mix over-all is pretty hot realtive to other mixes. It is better than The Lightning Theif in the LFE department IMO.

Yeah, that movie was a total surpise...the moment Poseiden emerges form the water and takes that first step...I was like holy****. Can't imagine what it would sound like in my house at those spl's...insane. I agree Clash of the Titans was good and though Green Zoze was a decent film(if your a Bourne fan like me:D) it didn't have the wow factor if that's what your seeking. I have to buy myself a copy of WOTW...to have on hand.
