Isn't it past morning?

I ripped down enough 1/2 inch birch to wrap all of the beams and started to build my "different" wall mount for the flat panel, I can sketch it up but it will be somewhat easier to just take a pic , so that's what I will do in the morning

I know , it was a long day, got a call to go to work but I still got a lot done pics in a few minutes, I wanna get a shower and eat some tasty vittles, peace, sawz

This will be the base for the wall mount "build" I am doing:

This next picture will be the face of the build where the actual mono mount will be attached to, the smaller rectangular area will be the inside of the build:

This pic shows the wall piece mounted in place:

this next pic shows the sides in place with the 45 degree cuts to accept the top and bottom, these are fastened to the back wall piece with 2 1/2 inch fine thread screws every 8 inches with original titebond every where:

This pic shows the same as the last but if you look where the level is that will be a top the same width as the sides and of course there will be a bottom when this box is done the front slides into the box nice and snug and the very front piece that the mono mount gets fastened to will be bigger than the inner box by 6 inches each way when the flat panel gets hung there will be about 2 inches of wood showing all around the flat panel.

I am building the inner box that is fastened to the wall 22 by 38 inches it is 12 inches( deep) off the wall then the front finish board is 34 by 50 inches, the flat panel is 29 and one half by 46 inches with optional speakers so that will leave about two inches of the white maple showing all around , decided against the birch (you know who), This whole thing will be attached with lag screws and four pieces of 3/8 all thread right thru 2 x 8 stock that is already in the wall on a flat horizontal position, I will use the biggest toggles you have ever seen I'll take a pic tom. as well the all thread will go in each corner thru everything.

Heres a pic with the face board on , this is where the mono mount will be fastened with nuts and bolts instead of lags the face board is a little thicker than an inch and a half, the face of this board is 12 inches away from the wall, now my reasoning for this is not really the most important other than the idea to do it my way and be different than the norm., but I like the idea of having the face of the flat panel out in line with the fronts of the speakers. I realize that an articulating mount would do the same thing but this one will not need to be pushed back and forth.

Here goes a pic with my kappas in their eventual spots in the new improved HT, this shows the look I am trying to achieve, The space under the plasma is actually a lot bigger than the pic reveals , it's just that the Kappas are huge

I will have the new AVR in a maple (lol) cabinet under the flat panel , I will build this to allow enough room for a center channel placement on the top of the cabinet but fit under the panel mount. I will have the fronts to the left and right of the windows that you see in the pic.

Friday night and I am ready for bed already,
Saturday will be a long day of wrapping beams, installing the all thread, installing the mono mount, draw up an AVR cabinet on a bar napkin or something and a new style base board that will allow sub and speaker wires to be run at least half way around the room in each direction.

Sawz, I think it's a great implementation visually. Very cool. I think it's gonna come out great. The subs look really great too.

I completed the wall mount assembly today, filled some holes with natural wood fill, and then I put both hands up and over the top and did a few pull ups, it didn't even make a creak so I feel safe putting the Pioneer up there before the week end is over and snap a pic , right now I am heading to the ice box for the coldest beer I can find, I'm glad my son went away for the weekend I can get a beer when I want one
Thanks members for your input, it is greatly appreciated, thank you Alex for the motivational thread I always feel good when I do a custom build , but this time it was for me and it feels awesome.

I thought you meant the crooked electrical outlets but I am most impressed with that Stabila and the subs look killer. I see that your window trim is white but the door is a natural wood. I'm guessing you're going to maintain the white trim though out the room ... maybe even the beams? Looks like a good size room that needs some nice theater seating. Nothing says couch potato like comfy seats.
