If I turn my tv, seen in sig, off and back on within a short time it returns to my hdmi input 1 which I consider my main, from rec/amp. But I have recently added a second hdmi input (hdmi 2), 3D blu ray direct to tv.

My problem is when I leave my tv off for a considerable amount of time and turn it on I have a blue screen, which I believe is the hdmi 2 input used by my blu ray. The screen is blue because the blu ray is off and there is no signal.

How do I set hdmi 1 ( called AVR) as my default input of choice when I turn on the tv? In the setup menu I can control the order they are viewed when I push input button and I have AVR listed first, but this does not seem to make it the default choice.

I could live with this, but the baby sitter (m-i-l) is not good with electronics.

Maybe Mitsus are different, but every set I've seen is at the last selected input when turned on.

How long without power are you talking about? Are you talking "unplugged from the wall" type of off, or simply turned off.

thanks, but now may be working

Just turned off, not unplugged. The time period is over night or while at work say 7-10 hrs.

But this morning it worked. It started on hmdi 1. I will see where it starts when I get home. Will edit this if it doesn't work later.

I have a cable box remote that turns all on with one button and leaves it in cable box mode for changing channels. Mother in law can do this... wrong input = no tv....lol

It could just be a handshake issue. Try turning on different sources in different order. If I don't turn my PJ on first it happens to me but if I do it in the correct order it always works. Funny I know but that's Hdmi for ya...

This crossed my mind also. But I thought to myself, I never had the problem before I used a second input and the 2nd input (3d blu) is not on either. If I go back to this problem I will try this..

My order now and always has been the amp/rec first... tv second.... and cable box 3rd. This leaves the remote in the cable box mode.

Some cable boxes seem to stay just as hot when off as when they're on. If you have such a cheapie box, you might just consider leaving it on.

AFAIK, some* displays will look for the HDCP handshake only in the beginning, and then give up when they don't see it at first. Therefore, I would try cable stb before tv, for sure, just to experiment at least.

It seems to be hit and miss. Last night after work went to hdmi2 (wrong) this morning hdmi1, good. So I will have to play with order I guess, or,

I am going to try running my panny 3d through Denon 3808 in checkerboard and eliminate hdmi2. I heard this should work in pass through mode.

If it does, problem solved, except I'll need a hdmi switch for my 2 sony 400 disc dvd players. Any suggestions? I have 5 hdmi players and only 4 inputs..

this will solve your problems and make it easier on all who use the system.;) As simple as pushing a button for each activity needed, that way no thought is required.
Got it just the way I wanted. Panny 3D 350 player output checkerboard format out through Denon 3808 to tv through 1 hdmi cable.

Denon is video selector again, 3D works with Samsung glasses using Mits kit but not using converter, just the emitter and glasses.

Now I just need a hdmi switcher for my 2 sony 400 disc plrs.

All is good...

Thanks all.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I've only installed one HDMI switcher ever for a friend, and I make all my friends buy Monoprice for everything, all the time. So, here is their selection below. I know Gefen makes a quality switcher, but that's a big jump in price AFAIK, and not really worth it for a consumer like me or you, IMO.
