12 core macs coming?

Yeah, I've driven many cars up to and including a 911 Carrera S. Doesn't mean it's worth the $30k premium over a Cayman S.

Built like? It's a computer. The thought of build quality makes me chuckle a lil inside, considering most people do nothing taxing with their computers. When I see someone who's using their Mac to run ProTools or render in Maya/3DSMax, I'll take them seriously when they talk about how much better Apple build quality is. Oh wait... Maya didn't run on Mac OS until version 2011, and Max doesn't run on Mac OS at all!!! :D

Not you specifically, just anyone in general. The average user that plays Farmville on Facebook for an hour a day, checks their e-mail, browses silly YouTube video, and types the occassional Word document has very little need or concern for a 2C temperature drop on their CPU cores. :)
Don't confuse build components and OS - Macs can and do run windows 7

A way back, I said - It is theoretical possible to build computer closely matching engineering of MacPro, including aluminium case, heat-sink proper fans and cooling (maybe even liquid cooling)
However you'll end in pretty much same price ballpark or even higher.
Plus the process to do this DIY isn't easy and requires prior knowledge and strong skills, unless you go to pros (like Falcon PC or Alienware) which you'll end up paying even more :)

Anyone that has any knowledge at all of engineering can appreciate their design and build qualtity.
I do appreciate their design and build quality. I don't appreciate the increase in price for benefits that the majority of users will never utilize. Again, the average PC user will never see the benefits of this supposed superior build quality. That applies to Macs in general.

As for the 12 core option, I previously showed that it already exists and can be used by the exact same demographic the Mac is targeting. When they say "12-core starting at $4999", let's first see exactly which one of the four Intel 6-core Xeons they're talking about before comparing price points.

Bull. If you can put together a Lego set you can build your own computer.
Thats like saying if you've had sex you can be a porn star.....while this is true there will be a drastic quality variance between skill levels.

There's a hard drive joke in there somewhere. I'm pretty excited that you opened the gate here for an epic thread derailing.

That's what she said.....
Okay, that's all I got

You PC and windows users are really just a bunch of closet macstrabators and you leak memory all over your HARD drive every time you see a cool new mac:p

Pricing is now available via the mac store and base units are not cheap vs the installed hardware.

Like what was predicted much earlier, it isn't anything special compared to the competition when it comes to a price/performance ratio. Not surprising.
