Seriously, I have no life.
Going to see it again tomorrow :D
No i max for me, gives me a headache.

This time I'm bringing a notepad to keep track of clues LOL.
A notepad? Boy, that is really hard cores there;):D

Do you think there will be a sequel/prequel to this?
I'd like to see a prequel to this, how this technique was developed to get to this stage. To see his wife's parts in it.

Saw it last night and had my head blown clean off! Seriously, this is an extraordinary film, well worth the price of admission. Some of the more spectacular imagery has already been seen in the trailers, but there's some other bits that were pretty cool: the 3D fight and the 0 G fights in particular. But it's the fascinating ideas contained in the story that were killer.

As of right now, Inception has surpassed The Godfather Part II on the IMDb top 250 list! Not sure I agree with that or not, but that shows you how good this flick is!

cheers,

Actually I really don't mind in a sci-fi movie if they say this is possible and then just get on with the movie. I'm happy to suspend disbelief and accept somehow this was figured out. However, if they try and BS with bad science then that annoys me. I mean there are tons of grad students out there that'll fact check your movie for beer so don't cheap out ! /end rant

We went today for a 2:45 matinee, we had the whole place to ourselves, just the 2 of use in a 155 seater. Anyway, really, really cool movie. The story, the sound, the VISUALS! It all looked and sounded great. Gonna need to get this on Bluray when it comes out to enjoy and re-watch again.

I saw it at the IMAX last night. I was thinking the only recent movies that get me to pay the admission are by Pixar and Nolan, but then soon as the previews started rolling, I remembered Avatar (it was so nice not to have any previews with that one).

I thought this movie was sort of like Memento, but with a budget on steroids. My friends likened it to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Being John Malkovich.

My dreams were more vivid than usual last night!

The suspension of disbelief was a little more challenging than usual to me, because there were just a number of little things that "just can't make sense". With something like Avatar, big blue people that connect to nature may be a stretch, at least that was the only big stretch I think I had to make there.

The special effects were pretty cool, I think the best being in the hotel.

Honestly though, I would have been happy to save the $18.50, and just wait for it on BD. The PQ is good, immersive, but my system still has better black detail, I think. For full disclosure, my opinions on movies often seem to be the opposite of what the masses say, and I think it has to do with expectations.

It was entertaining. Trippy. Interesting. Worthwhile watch, but IMO, not a can't miss at the IMAX. At this same theater the digital/dlp is still $16, but if you can find one of those for much cheaper, perhaps as a matinee, that's what I would say. Enjoy.

Edit: I disagree that this movie is superior to Godfather II.

I liked it, three out of the my four friends I went with didn't care for it too much.

I think it's going to be a hell of a sub workout once it gets on BRD.

Don't forget, Avatar was on an alien planet, another evolutionary process. I guess I would have a hard time with the idea of plugging into an Avatar in that fashion, even in a future time period; perhaps in a distant future.

Inception was on this planet, our kind of dreams and dreaming, etc. One reason a prequel to this movie might help.

I saw it tonight and I really liked it but I'm not sure why. With all those dream levels, I was never sure just which one was "reality". It's a fascinating puzzle and definitely one I want to see again. It seemed like everything that happened was intended to keep you off balance (it did that quite well for me) and when it was over, I wondered WHAT was over. Wow. What a movie; I'm not sure how to review it. I was checking on IMDB and see that Chris Nolan has now directed 9 full length movies since the late 90's and 5 of them are in the IMDB top 250 (Memento, Batman Begins, The Prestige, Dark Knight and now Inception). That's quite a percentage.

I reviewed Nolan's first film and it was excellent as well. This.one was very well done. Not one of the best I've seen but he really knows how to get in your head and get the actors to give exactly the performance that will work.

I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to impart to me, but for instance, one of the little things that bugged me (and for whoever doesn't want to read any little stupid* criticism, or have anything spoiled, don't read it):

Why on Earth can't a totem like a spinning top fall over in a dream? Or what stops a loaded die from feeling any different in a dream than in real life? Heck, the back of my hand probably looks the same in my dream. Oh, and because if I held your totem die, all of a sudden it's not going to feel the same/different for you (because of my projections I bring into your dream or something)? I dunno, stuff like that.

My review of Nolan's first film: The Following...

If you like Inception and Memento, you should see The Following also. There is also a little animated film called Paprika, which has a similar underlying premise as Inception, though Nolan takes it in a very different direction.

Inception was on this planet, our kind of dreams and dreaming, etc. One reason a prequel to this movie might help.
Time and place don't exist in dreams, so though it was set in the real world, most of the events take place in the imagination. Even in the movie they said: you can pretty much do anything.

Semi-spoiler?:

I think it's because if you are in someone elses dream, they don't know how the die feels or how the top spins. If they hold it, then they have a proper feel of it and can dream it...I guess. lol.

An example is that I see a bar of gold, and I can imagine what that bar of gold feels like. Someone in my dream has held that bar of gold and knows what it feels like. In my dream, i imagine that the bar weighs 5 ounces, but in real life it weighs 20 ounces. But only the person who has held that bar knows that it is 20 ounces and not 5 ounces. If the person in the dream picks it up, and it weighs 5 ounces, and he knows it really should weigh 20, he knows hes in a dream.

Folks, got out to see this film last night. One thing I need to stress is that this film is really out there so to speak. By that, it puts an interesting perspective on dreams and the subconscious mind. In other words, Freud would have had a field day watching it if he were still alive. More specifically, the dream within a dream within a dream concept just blew me away. At times, however, I found myself lost not knowing when they were actually dreaming and when they were back into reality. As such, this is a film that requires the viewer to pay very close attention to detail.

Both audio and video effects were outstanding. The acting was very good and the story-line was top-notch. Once out on BR, it is sure to put your ht through its paces. Although the ending was a bit confusing, it was done quite well.

In closing, I really liked Leonardo Decaprio in this film. Very well acted to the point it almost had me believing that it was possible to go inside someone's mind. What an interesting concept! All in all, I would have to give this film a solid B. It is a must see in my book.

Cheers,

Phil

It was pretty simple to tell which dream "level" you were in because each was a different scenario and that never changed. I don't see why this aspect would confuse anyone except the first time they introduce it, though I can see that it might be tough to figure out when they are in reality...or if they ever are.

one question bugged me after we saw it yesterday:
How come if the whole airplane was bought by the Japanese guy, Leo had to sneak "the chemical" to Fischer's drink, why not the stewardess could it much easier....

For everyone who liked this movie, they must watch (if they haven't yet) "The Thirteenth Floor"

Leo's acting is actually slowly growing on me and I hate him less than i used too,
however he set acting bar for himself way too high (in the What's Eating Gilbert Grape) and It'll be b1tch to over-do it..

probably just to be safe that the stewardess didnt give it to him (leo) by accident. Or maybe the stewardess was having an internal conflict about the morality of going into other peoples dreams lol

OK then, how about in one's own dream? With those dreams/landscapes that Cobb built with his wife, he always succeeded in distinguishing reality and dream, but did he still not depend on his totem? (I don't remember.) Anyways, I feel that by leaving the idea of the totem out of the film, the story and intended confusion can remain effective. I don't think it was needed. Newayz . . . whatever . . .
