There I was, in my back yard minding my own business; when suddenly, one by one, Audioholics started to pull up my driveway.

It all started when I hung a pair of pink flip flops along with a lime green pair on my mailbox. Unbeknown to me, that must work as some sort of a Bat Signal.
First Markw & his wife, Alex & his wife, StrongBadF1 (Doug) & his wife, Sawzalot (Rob)

I'm short on time right now, so I'll be brief, and will add more later.

They are a really nice group, and all have very nice wives! Can't begin to tell you how friendly everyone is!
My wife called me aside about two hours in, and remarked how they were all people she could picture being good friends with; I'd have to agree with her.

Thanks for all the great wine, deserts, potato salad everyone brought!
I'll post some pictures later; Alex has a few also.

Beware what you do with those flip flops  Don't leave them laying around!:D
Audioholics, bringing people together, one pair of flip flops at a time.

Sounds like some good times and good eatin!
I'll say. Rick has got the food thing down. They call people like him foodies. I like food a lot and when I tell you that it was something ... you can believe me. It really wasn't fair that I had to explain to Cheryl the significance of flip flops ... nailed to a telephone pole.

SWIMBO graciously agreed to accompany me and Rick & Co. saw to it that she thoroughly enjoyed herself. I just got back home. Real quick I wanted to say that on the drive back Cheryl said in reference to the Sig8's: those speakers are gorgeous. Between them and some Epic sub Rick uses I'll say that the bass comes from everywhere. It comes from everything. The air pulses. Granted Rick had the sub about 10db hot but with Money For Nothing it was a lot of fun to listen to. With Mark's tune of choice, Walk of Life, it quickly became obvious that it needed to be turned down. Rob has dual Avaserfi Perfects. I would very much like to hear from him what he thought of that bottom end integration and power.

Doug and I both noticed that with I Feel Love the volume seemed to drop a little inexplicably. I just remembered that I heard that at Walter's as well. It's in the recording. I had forgotten about it until now. I think it may be more noticeable on a system cranked to ear bleed levels. Doug owns the same DVD and I would like to hear from him if he can notice it on his copy. I don't think first time listeners caught that.

A different room is the home of Mark's Magnapans and a pair of Walter recommended Audio Source Coherent Pulses that we unfairly AB'ed because we could. I am sick of The Dire Straights. I heard them repeatedly on 3 different systems that day after listening to them at Walter's a couple of days before that and of course at home because I wanted to compare that sound to mine ... enough already.

It's all a little subjective but with my copy of Ode de Joy I made some comparisons to having heard it on Greg's Studio 100's. I think Greg's amp might have given the Studio 100's more dynamic range. I actually tried to take notes this time but that's not easy when you're vocabulary limited. I am slowly learning that budget, appearance and configuration count for a lot. Like if you can afford the Sig8's ... just get them. They sound and look great. I don't think they're rear ported or anything so placement shouldn't be problematic. The Maggies sound wonderful but require a lot of free space in a room so if you can't swing that the Coherent Pulses sound good too and are easier on placement requirements. We talked about it and applied 'the right tool for the right job' slant to which speaker would be right for any particular situation. That's deep, huh?

Rick's wife is about as sweet as pie and I want to thank her for putting up with all this audio nonsense.
She deserves another *hundred pair of shoes.

* a number that is in contention. :)

You would have loved this. We hung around eating, yacking and drinking beers for hours before Doug finally said 'let's go listen to something'. Who would have thought that he would turn out to be the brains of the operation? It turns out that Mark's wife knows more about wire than anybody I have ever met. She's very nice too. Mark it turns out has part taken in the third sickest act I have ever heard about but claims not to have enjoyed it. :D

We talked a little about Tom Jones too. :)

When can I seeee youuuu again ?

Thats exactly how I feel, when will we get together again, it was awesome to meet you guys. This was not the first time I met up with Rickster but it is only the second and yet he comes off as if he has always known you and he is ready to welcome you into his home, no question, A First Class Person, He is Genuine.
I, like Alex , Doug and Mark really like food, especially the bbq type and if the lovely ladies were not so close I fear there would not have been too many leftovers, probably none to be exact. The food was out of this world and I am afraid to bbq again as I could never duplicate yesterdays,.

When we finally moved into the house to do the right thing, listen to the setup, we LISTENED to the set-up, like Alex say's The Room was just breathing Bass, I could feel it and it came from everywhere, a monsterous set-up indeed, The Sigs are beautiful , they look like a cabinet makers dream the finish is outstanding, I enjoyed just looking at them, really pretty speakers, and they are rear ported so I believe placement may be somewhat important, Rickster had them off the wall a bit and angled in just right, we all took turns sitting in the sweet spot and the sounds were something I have never really experienced before, especially in my own HT, we need to meet up more often to sample other set-ups as I now realize that I am missing out on so much more.I didn't really get to listen to all of the other rigs in Ricks home , I think theres one in each room, lol, I guess I was keeping a careful eye on the Grill :D.
I believe that a comparison between my twin Kappas and Rick's Epic would be unfair as our rooms 150% different by design, my entire back wall is open to the Kitchen and DiningRoom, and Rick's is pretty much enclosed by four walls, that said Ricks Epic hit me harder than my Kappas ever did, he needs to be careful or there's gonna be drywall to patch, :D

Yeah this thread is useless without pics:D:D:D
I personally rolled out without a camera , without my new U2 Blu , without my cup of coffee I made for the start of the journey. I guess you could say I was anxious to get there :).

Everything sounded good. The Sigs and Epik did fill the room with sound didn't they! The midrange and midbase was just so clean and powerful. I really enjoyed the Magnapan 1.6's also. I don't have the words to describe it properly but their presentation is very nice.

If I would have thought of it I would have asked to hear the Sig 8's by themselves...I was too busy enjoying myself to care at the time.:)

My wife looked at me strange when I put in my Dire Straights best of CD and cranked up Money For Nothing. LOL! I had to do the obligatory day after subjective comparison. She said ours sounded better....obviously an attempt to stop me from wanting new speakers.:p (maybe I shouldn't have told her what the Sigs cost.:D)

I'll double check I Feel Love when I get the chance.

He had a few and started taking over. :)

Left to right ...

Rick: I told you to wear pink.
Doug: I thought you said peach.
Mark: Get a f^%&ing room.
Rob: My ribs are getting cold and my potato salad's getting warm. C'mon, take the pic already.

I didn't take any pic's of the gear but I think Rick may be willing to share. He's got those Niles rock speakers outside that played an interesting mix of MP3's run off a third system in the basement. Yet he has the gall to speak of shoes. :D
