I find it very unwise for an authorized DefTech Dealer to completely disagree with the DefTech bipolar design goal!

My information comes from Def Tech tech support personnel, not the marketing department. Def Tech is my personal favorite speaker line. Every price category delivers the best value and performance.

Even the sentence you quote supports much of what I have attempted to explain and that was told to me by Def Tech tech support specialists.

The only reason anyone would make a defamatory statement like that is to discredit them. My agenda is pure and my information is clearly and simply stated to help members and visitors get the best possible and accurate information possible.

Maybe other members can chime in on their experience with Bipolar technology.

I think you have been both helpful and honest Robert. You have confirmed exactly what well established for decades acoustics perception has long shown, that placing a bipolar acoustic source too near (<24") reflective boundaries, will smear the spatial perception. Bravo, job well done.
Now whether this will matter to the customer is entirely up to them. Or their wife .

That is true. We are all different. We think differently. I guess that is why we all "debate" with our close friends and families.

My brother still believes that his BOSE is just as good as any speaker out there.

Some of my friends strongly believe that all amps sound differently & speaker wires & interconnects differ. We debate, but we are still friends.

And because we are all different, we prefer different speakers.

...that require special placement.

Yeah, I don't what speakers I have; I'm putting them 3' from the front walls and 4 or 5 ft from the side walls just to be safe - if I have the space of course.

what are the advantage and disadvantage of the 2 tower speakers?
I have all def tech on my set up, is there any other brand for tower that can blend in my system? my budget is $1500-2000 for a pair of tower speaker.

There is no right or wrong here.

Even if you get the BP7004, you can use the sub in the 7004 plus your ProSub 1000 at the same time.

Just set the receiver's speaker setting for the Front L+R to LARGE Plus Subwoofer - assuming your speaker allows this. Then the receiver will send full range audio to the BP7004 plus LFE to the Sub.

Or just get a TWO Y-splitter cables and convert ONE LFE channel into 3 LFEs and feed them to the 2 BP7004 and Prosub.

I would use the built in subs in the towers for LFE, and use the prosub as a sub for the center channel.

benj, for a true upgrade, I'd go with the 8s and a much better sub! The DT "subs" we're talking about here are compromising your HT experience. A sub like the SVS PB12-NSD would be a significant upgrade in performance.

I agree with GlocksRock and AVRat, and use the Prosub 1000 hooked up to center channel only. The reason is the Prosub drops like a rock on anything below 37Hz (which isnt really low bass at all more mid bass) I have the 7001s and have them crossed at 40hz (set to large and they sound very bloated and muddy) and added a Prosub 1000 to my center (also crossed at 40Hz) and have everything below 40Hz going to my SVS. This way the mid bass is being handled by the 7001s "built in subs" and the Prosub and I get a deep tight mid bass down to 40Hz all across the front and my SVS handles the real low end stuff with ease. Best of both worlds.

Well.. as most people here ive been cross shopping alot of speakers as well as talking a bit with wmax.

So far these are what ive been looking at now...

Paradigm S8's, B&W 803, Revel F52, PSB Plat T8, Revel F52, BP7000.

So far my choices are.... #1 S8, and tied for #2 are tied between F52 and T8.
Just curious if anyone has read any comparisons or have any info regarding why i should/shouldnt get a set.

I would love to listen to some Revel speakers though.
