PJ cleaning? 1080UB

I was cleaning my EPSON because I thought I had a dust blob that was making a red mark when the image was dim. Long story short it's a weird bulb issue that comes and goes and is a sign of it fading.

What I did though was clean my PJ with some canned air. It was great got out plenty of dust. However I now have a sprinkling of redish and greenish fleks that only show up when I adjust the lens way out of focus, and one verry fuzze green splotch when in focus. I'm 99.999999% sure it's dust as when in focus I don't see anything when projecting all white or black images(the hazy green blob shows up on black screens however).

Is there any service out there that can maybe clean it for me? I probably should have known better and taken it to a pro.

Also in case something did hapen to the LCD's... is there any hope to replace those?

I have tried googling, but I'm not coming up with anything of any real help.

Here is a thread: You will need to be a logged in member to run search functions. On the right, when logged in, there will be "search this thread". Type in "cleaning", and you'll get a lot of hits. A brief search of my own, on your behalf, gives me the impression that the cleaning is difficult and tedious, and you really shouldn't do anything unless you know what it is you're doing.

I assume your PJ is under warranty, and if so, Epson has been pretty awesome, so far that I've seen. Get it sent to them pronto. If the panels need replacement, they should take care of that too. Those can't be too cheap, so I do hope you're under warranty.

Josten you always help a guy out....

Unfortunately I think I am out of warranty.... It's been a while and I got screwed on my PJ with no real receipt. It also stopped me from getting the extra "free" bulb.

I basically just paid the cost of the 1080 minus the bulb and shipping. Maybe epson will take pity on me. I'll have to give them a call tomorrow while waiting for glue to dry.

I'm finally building my 2 18 mael-x enclosures.

:D

Thanks again Josten

Cheers. Yeah, you never know. And if they can't help you all the way with red carpet, they still may take some pity. Write down all of the symptoms on paper, so that you can recall it all easily to the tech over the phone. They should let you know what it probably is, and the possible cost.

Before responding, I knew your handle was familiar, so I found your system thread. You mentioned those mael-x boxes over a year ago! :p Wait, they've been in your possession for 14 months!? Shame on you. :p

Better late than never!

We want pics! :D

It was the new house. We had 2 floods, remodeled kitchen(still in progress), also working on bathroom, and I knocked out 2 concrete ponds.

I also got one of these.
