I'm a member of several UK car forums
they are having a big election tommorow...much like our last one...(lib vs con vs labor)

and guess what, not a single post about it, anywhere, OT, etc.
never mentioned in any thread I've read...NEVER

in the good old USA it was (and is) out and out hatred, reviling and class warfare...you guys know what I'm talking about...
there is at least a dozen anti-this or that party/guy stuff a week around any typical US forum (stereo, cars, watches, etc)
really ugly and mean spirited stuff, that usually results in members railing against each other...

but not a one over there...very surprising

you simply cannot have a rational discussion with people that act like children. people that refuse to see the global picture. these people are holding this country back.

From what I have heard, a virtual unknown is leading and isn't a member of either party. OTOH, he doesn't have many connections in government, so they're saying that his chances of being elected are slim but the Brits are really sick of the performance of the other two parties.

There's no way Brits will post things like that in a public forum- they're much too reserved. They would, however, in a behind-the-scenes manner. They're often as opinionated as Americans but the way they express things is completely different unless they're radicals. Stiff upper lip and all that, eh? Americans hate being told what to do and Brits are used to it.

IMO, Americans are more willing to resort to name-calling and the most ugly rants when they know half of what they should or choose to ignore facts that are relevant to the discussion. These people, by some slight coincidence, may not have bothered to pay attention in school or even graduate. This makes it hard for them to think about the Big Picture in any meaningful way.

I truly think that the lack of discipline, rampant in this country, is the majority of the problem. People can't control their actions and can't shut their mouths for two seconds when someone is trying to tell them something important.

I have seen some of those Parliament fights and they seem pretty spirited with the "here, here" or is it "hear, hear":)

Looks like a good workout, with all of the standing up and sitting down.

Sure would hate to be dressed down by a British lawmaker in the Monty Python style. They were pretty vicious.
