I say let free markets reign. You know they will never do nothing shady, cut corners, or put the screws to the unsuspecting. Need to get Big Gov out of the picture entirely.
I think both big business and government are made up of a mix of good and bad people. (as is all society)
So to expect something different from one or the other, is just a hope never to be realized.
It's human nature, and we will screw up a good thing.

True, but at least with government, you can vote them out. With big business, you can refuse to use their products and convince millions to follow you; a much harder task.

Disasters happen. There is nothing we can do to prevent the ones that do happen. We simply do the best we can. Engineers work very hard to prevent this kind of disaster, but one unknown-unknown can derail everything.

Spend five days in software maintenance shop and you will see what I mean.

I don't think there are perfect answers to some of these questions. Sometimes big is good and sometimes bad be it govt or private. However, I continue to look for the perfect loudspeaker in the perfect room (big or small).
