Depends on when your going to replace it and how much you can get out of the current bulb
I see...
Well, I'll probably just let this bulb go out and then re-calibrate because the settings I'm sure will be a bit different due to the intensity and such from the new bulb...
Another interesting tidbit, though: I threw in the BD of
Iron Man last night, and switched the picture mode back to "Custom" with the calibrated settings there...in the Advanced menu, these were:
EVERYTHING OFF EXCEPT FOR DETAIL ENHANCER: HIGH
I had to stop the disc like about halfway through because I just didn't like the image or impact from the film...granted, I'm a good deal away from my 50" screen at 11 feet, but I was totally not immersed in the action, especially dark sequences. I chalked this up to the Custom mode delivering a bit more of a "warm, smooth film like" image that was a bit too dim for my tastes; changing the mode back over to "Standard" and watching
The Proposal on standard DVD was a completely different experience -- the image became brighter and more involving and the screen didn't seem so "far away" and "un-theater-like"...I know this sounds weird, but I think I will stick with Standard and re calibrate in that mode when a new lamp arrives (using Neutral, NOT Cool, color temp of course).
