Bipolar Center??? Good Idea???

I currently am running Def Tech 7001sc for the fronts and the clr 3000 for the center but have an opportunity on picking up one more 7001sc. Wanting to know if anyone has heard a bipolar speaker for the center or if anyone has any ideas of how it will sound compared to a direct radiating?

no, bipolar speakers are intentionally built for maximum width and sound dispersion and centers are intentionally built to have precise directionality so they can be noticed being right in the center.

The center is the one speaker that you most certainly would not want Di-Pole character. As noted it is to be a focused and well anchored signal.

The C/L/R 3000 is an awesome center !

normally you want the fronts and centers to match to maintain timbre (seamless front sound) and a third 7001SC would perfectly match the fronts but as others said you might get muddled dialog.

Besides that the C/L/R 3000 is probably the best center available for under $30,000 far better than its MSRP price of $1099 would suggest.

I think you are making a very wise decision sticking with the 3000 C/L/R
