Could also have been the Crips or Bloods you know.
From the episodes I have seen on the television called Lockdown wouldn't the "whites" have to be the one to offer protection. According to the show you might have to "pre-pay" for those services.

An escalation in AV123 Forum moderation?

I've been lazy and never bothered to clear the AV123 cookie on my work PC. As a result, any time I happen to hit the "AV123 Forum" link or bookmark without first opening a cookie-free "incognito" Chrome window, I get reminded that I'm banned. I've been doing it off and on for almost six months now.

Today, I had something different happen. I happened to use an incognito window to check on the forum, and was informed of the following:
Sorry. The administrator has banned your IP address. To contact the administrator click here
It's an interesting measure to take now, long after my late-September banning. I'll be curious to see if my home IP address has been similarly affected. It's been months since I accidentally tried to log in from that IP, but I would assume they have logs that go back far enough to tell them what other IP addresses I've used. I'll also be curious to see if others encounter the same sort of address bans.

By the way, I'm sure there are some easy ways to get around this - sites I can use to spoof my address, etc. - but I'm not going to worry about messing with any of that. If any AV123 staff are reading, you may rest easily tonight: the scary engineer in Tennessee isn't that eager to lurk in your forum.

The mods there are becoming increasingly paranoid. Kyle recently found a way to hide his online activity. His online/offline indicator is always off (even when heavy moderation is in effect), and his is the only profile I can find that doesn't show "Last activity" time.

Interesting that the only speaker product they have in stock that is in the SOCS database is the RS-850 Signature. The RS-450, LS-6, LS-9, X-Static, and ELT525 (the only other non-centers they are still offering) are all absent.

Wow, $800 for a 10+ year old digital product? I think I remember Danny saying a while back that SOCS, or other room processing wouldn't have much of an effect on a line source.

Does that mean he is saying a room doesn't affect a line source speaker?

SOCS was claimed to correct phase, which I believe, was never proven. I believe it does do some EQing.

Oh my! What a dishonest untrustworthy scummy man this Mark is. He’d never be invited into my, home for a cup of tea. Guess they’ll be serving him stale cold tea at prison soon.

I wish you would stop extolling his virtues Donna. To get him into your house you would need vodka.

Perhaps Kyle was let go. He hasn't made a post since Feb 18.

To be selfish for a second here, what bothers me about this whole ordeal and leading up to it is the discombobulation of the audio community. I used to feel like I was part of something good, and now I feel like I have some speakers laying around that were paid with blood money. I also feel as if a community lies in shambles, and people that once came together for a common goal are going in other directions and losing interest. I used to go online and play around on the forums to kill time and bust some balls, etc... Now I don't even know where to go where I know and like the people anymore. I guess it's just as well since now I have more free time for other things. I am looking to purchase some new speakers and such, and I don't even know where to go now. AV457 is pretty much a skeleton of a forum with remenants of members, emotiva is all about the umc-1, TCA doesn't really have any product yet and a small following. I'm left with the big dogs such as this site and AVS, which I like alot, but I don't get that small community vibe that I came to enjoy.

The Sunday night live-chat at the below link can be pretty entertaining. It has a bit of the "feel" I once felt back at that "other" place...

They seem to have changed the ability of people to be able to tell when Shifty last logged in.
