Yes, we don't need to have the discussion about whether or not it was a good movie again, but nobody will deny that this one is one of the LFE nuts favorite demo movies, so I am excited to see this coming. More interesting though is the lack of mention of what the other two Spielberg movies are since WotW is clearly not one of his best films?

Between April and June, Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing three Steven Spielberg movies on Blu-ray, one each month. On June 1, the studio will release War of the Worlds, the modern retelling of H.G. Wells's science-fiction novella starring Tom Cruise. Technical specifications have not been released yet. The BD carries over all the contents from the two-disc limited edition DVD.

Special features include:
Revisiting the Invasion
The H.G. Wells Legacy
Steven Spielberg and the Original War of the Worlds
Characters: The Family Unit
Previsualization
Production Diaries
Designing the Enemy: Tripods and Aliens
Scoring War of the Worlds
We Are Not Alone

I really want to see the "storm" scene too. "Oh say can you see....WHAM!"

*edit DUH, it looks like the other two movies are Saving Private Ryan and Minority Report, both previously announced.

I am drooling over this BR. I can't wait to hear the attack on the hill and the attack on the River Ferry!

Saving Private Ryan would be another excellent one to have.

Its a shame the movie was so pathetic (except Tim Robbins)
Sorry, I didn't really think he was any good in it either. As I said, we don't really need to discuss the fact that the movie wasn't good; that is a given.

Agreed! It was not his best role, but he was the best actor in the movie. We all know his best role was "The Shawshank Redemption" of course :)

Good sound or not, I just don't think I could bear to sit through it again. Once was enough. Private Ryan I could do in blu.

I'll buy it for the sound.

Saving Private Ryan's a must-have. Don't think I'll be picking up Minority Report though.

I've watched this movie once all the way through. I've demoed the pod emergence probably 25-30 times. There are alot of movies with great bass, but nothing like the sustained floorshaking that's embedded in this soundtrack. I doubt if I'll buy the BD. The graininess of the video and the muted color pallette won't make this one an eye popper, however, if John buys it, I'll give it a listen on his rig or borrow it and see what happens to my room. I've knocked things off my mantle with the DVD.

I saw this in the theaters. I think that is the only time I sat through the whole thing. I probably will pick up the BD as long as it is on sale.

I picked up the dvd for $5 used and could only sit through it once. IMO it's not worth it, there are many other good sub demo movies out there that I can sit through, like U-571. (though I do have to admit the WotW scene when the first pod unearths itself is pretty cool).

I don't think U571 has nearly the amount of bass that WotW does, and both the HD DVD and Blu-ray versions of U571 weren't as impressive as I'd hoped. I am sure WotW will deliver though.

I am off on Tues. I am sure my neighbors will be hating me that day :D

This one is easily one of the most intense sounding discs I've ever heard. Still going to be one of the top demo discs ever. The pod scene was fun before, but now it is downright scary. Nothing has ever shook my place like that. Even Terminator:Salvation will have to step aside for this one.
