Connecting Celestion S1i Subwoofer to Creative Gigaworks L+R Channel Speakers+card

Hello,

I am wondering if someone can please tell me how I would go about attaching the Celestion S1i Subwoofer to two (left and right channel) Creative Gigaworks satellite speakers and connecting that to my XtremeGamer soundcard?

At the moment, it is working (although quietly), with the 3.5mm jack splitter to red/white left/right channel through the line in channels.

The creative satellite speakers have red/white phono connectors.

Is there any way I can use the box that came with the Creative Gigaworks T750 7.1 (amplifier) to get this working properly?

I would really appreciate some help.

Thank you so much.

If your sats are passive (no amplification) i'd try to feed the sub from l/r outputs from soundcard into Line In on sub (3.5mm to RCA) and the connect sats to High Level Out on sub. Just get cheap rca/rca cable. Remove rca plus on one side and splice them into high level out from sub.

Not sure i'll work, but worth a try. Also frequency should be at about 120-150 range and start with really low levels at beginning.

It looks like the Gigaworks speakers are amplified, correct? If so then (after double checking your manual) go from the soundcard's subwoofer jack - usually it's a combined subwoofer/center jack - with a 3.5MM to dual RCA Y-cable. One side will be the center and the other will be the sub. You SB manual will help figure out which. Then run whatever length of male to male subwoofer cable you need to one or both of the sub's line-in jack. The card's software should allow you to set a crossover point. I'd set it pretty high, say 80-100hz and see how that sounds.

If your speakers aren't powered then we have a bigger project. ;) If you look at my home-office system you'll see what I have plugged into my sound card and it will give you some ideas.

Hello. Thank you both very much for responding!

I didn't get a notification that anyone had replied, so I haven't been back to check this thread up until now.

I was half there, I managed to order the opposite: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000Q6EBIU/ref=oss_product 3.5MM STEREO PLUG/2RCA PLUG 5.0m

I am reading the rest of your suggestions now and will get back to you.

With passive speakers I'd buy a used receive and go from digital out on the card to the receive and run the speakers and sub off the receiver.

Any other ways? A receiver would be expensive/take up a lot of space.

Unless there are any bargains in the UK that you know of either new or second hand.

Sorry my friend I'm not in the UK. In the US a 5 year old used 80-100w receiver will sell for $50 on ebay or one of the local used "stuff" sites like craigsllst. There must be something similar in the UK.

Do you know of anyone on the forums who may know of such a set from the UK?

What are the alternatives?

Probably because most GigaWorks speakers are amplified. The T20 and T40 are. However if you are using the just the sats from a T3 they would not be and will be quite useless without an amp.

Aren't they amplified by the volume control unit?

If you would take picures of the front and back of everything you have we could more easily help you.

I am a bit at a loss on this one but I think the sub that comes with it houses everything you need to run the system- like the preamp and amp. I am uncertain that you can use a different sub with it.

Connect the 3.5MM to dual RCA from the XtremeGamer soundcard to the L(white) /R (red) "line in" on the Celestion S1i Subwoofer .

Then on the Celestion S1i Subwoofer "high level out" connect the bare wires of the "bare wire to RCA connector" ( example http://www.iec-usa.com/cgi-bin/iec/fullpic?TjCqsUcI;L7422-01;6) to the high level out. Connect the RCA end to each Creative Gigaworks satellite speaker.

Your Creative Gigaworks satellite speakers are passive and the are receivng amplification from the subwoofer which contains amplifiers.

Good Luck!

Hello Forest Man,

do you think you could please draw a simple diagram in paint to demonstrate the wiring? Whils what you are suggesting sounds entirely logical, I am struggling to picture it.

Just use blocks for speakers and bass and lines for wires (including labels above each).

Thank you so much.
