I think I managed to connect it all up as you said, but I can only hear something coming out of the speakers when I put my ear to it.

Hello Forest Man,

do you think you could please draw a simple diagram in paint to demonstrate the wiring? Whils what you are suggesting sounds entirely logical, I am struggling to picture it.

Just use blocks for speakers and bass and lines for wires (including labels above each).

Thank you so much.
Here is a really simple drawing paint is had to deal with and I don't have access to something good like Visio

Good Luck!

I see how that would allow him to use the subs crossover but that's not going to power any speakers.

Yep.

He's gonna need some amps or those speakers.

I think you and I said this but nobody seemed to want to hear it.

That would be the first time we have ever agreed on anything...correct?;)

The funny thing about speakers...they want something to power them...

Ah, the joys of freecycle!

Got myself a Panasonic SA-HE7 AV Receiver...

So now my question...

I have the thing to split the left and right channels from the one port on the sound card, what am I looking for to connect the bass to the bass port on the sound card?

Just connect the digital output of the sound card to the receiver's digital input and connect the speakers and sub to the receiver.

Sounds ideal! Which is the 'digital output' and how do I connect it?

It's on your sound card. RTFM.

And, read the receiver manual yourself. You gotta do some things for yourself.
Actually, I do want to read the manual for the X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series card, but I can't find it on the official website or google.

I don't know jack about that audio board you have but a brief google on the internet did say that it has digital out. IIWY, I'd explore that "flexijack" port.

but first, get hold of the instructions for your sound card.

That's about all I have to say on this. good luck.

Yes, having done some reading it does provide digital out using the flexijack port.

I don't have the user manual any more, I have had this sound card for over 5? years.

So that still leaves me with the same question about which route to take.

Where is this connection you speak of? Is it the FlexiJack port?

I did manage to find something...

Do I need to use the special cable that came with the Creative Gigaworks set to get 5.1 and some other cables to convert it from 3.5mm:
(picture is slighly inaccurate: lead to subwoofer on Creative Gigaworks THX 7.1 goes from 3-4 leads. 3 plug into the sound card and four into the bass (when using the one supplied). I am guessing one is for front left and right channels (green), one for bass and centre (orange), rear left and right (black) and side left and right (grey). This adapter lead looks like it might be a good option for maintaining true performance, similar to that provided originally).
The question is, what do I convert these 3.5mm jacks to and using what?

Unless that receiver has 5.1 analog inputs, which I doubt, forget about converting those 3.5 mm jacks. Start researching those manuals on how to get digital audio from that sound card nd how to get it nto your receiver.

Looks like option two then!

A 3.5mm Mono Male To Rca Female Adapter:

AND a mono male to male digital cable.

There is a digital jack on the receiver and using the FlexiJack port with this adapter, it can be connected using a male to male digital cable, so all channels (I think) can be passed through to the AV RECEIVER.

I ordered the adapter for £1.00!

Can you recommend what settings I should have on the subwoofer please?
