3D TV is something I will never be in the market for. I will not wear funny glasses, and my current HDMI upgrade is the last one I will do. I really doubt this will get traction.

While Im not into the spec, knowing how the MPAA is pushing it, I see manufactures cramming it down our throats:eek: as a new revenue stream.

I was thinking exactly same thing, until my recent visit to Imax avatar 3d.
I'm not going to do any rush decision and jump on 1st get of 3d stuff, but then (IF) I'll move to new place I'd consider using current 42" 720p plasma as 2nd TV and getting 3D Plasma for main screen..... but by then it'll be almost identical in price

I'm not sure, if this article is entirely correct, that it could possibly ever gain traction. I can't see the majority of people being willing to shell out a couple thousand for a tv, a thousand for a avr that can handle this, new hdmi cables, etc, etc...It's just not feasible for folks IMO. If it was just an addon to existing stuff for a few hundred bucks, sure. But not a total revamp of a person's home theater system at it's very core. Wow is all I can say.

Actually, it will, because the feature will be included in future products, whether it's your new TV, or new receiver, or new bluray player, etc. OTOH, just because you buy a new receiver doesn't mean you can enjoy 3D quite yet, obviously.

IOW, it's like saying video processors in receivers will never gain traction. . . just because few of us use it doesn't mean it's not included in anything/everything midlevel and on up.

I sure don't understand the technical details, but if we can already do 1080/60, 2 streams of 1080/24 shouldn't be a challenge, bandwidth-wise. Now, for 3D sports/TV at 60p, I wonder if and when that will look any good.

3D porn ... game on! :D
There was a dedicated thread to pr0n PQ/review at AVS, but it looks like it has been deleted, or I just can't find it. It was amusing from what I remember (years ago?), because I guess some of that stuff just isn't flattering when in hi-def, pimply butts and perhaps worse. I've never ran any through my system, perhaps because I am afraid how long it would take to shake off nightmares of an 11ft long d!ck.
