When is enough really enough?

When I first spent $500 on a pair of speakers I thought I would have them for decades if not longer. They lasted less than a year. Amps....didn't need one. Well, now I own three. I've reached the point where I am at the limits of what I'm willing to spend and it takes a lot of cash for a small upgrade in performance. My music is on a minimum of three hours a day, so if I calculate the price per hour, it actually seems reasonable....ok, I'm rationalizing. I make sacrifices elsewhere to be able to put money into something I truely enjoy.
yea i listen to music every hour im not working, or people arent trying to sleep.

Well, after reading through the most excellent posts from everyone, I've been inspired to continue my obsession and build up a little system in the bedroom. I think bringing quality audio to another room in my house will allow me to not only try out new audio gear, but to keep my hobby thriving. So, I'm thinking 32" wide screen lcd with EMP's tube amplifier and a quality pair of bookshelf speakers, thoughts?

I guess you're never really done...

I guess EMP's tube amp at $379 is one way to go, but I recently bought a $60 Pyle amp for my bedroom & it works great. That & a pair of KEF speakers I already had make a good improvement to the TV speakers.

For my main system, BD and a new receiver are next on the list, other than my perpetual quest to upgrade my subs one at a time.

If it were me I'd think through how you're going to use your bedroom system. Sitting, standing, laying down etc, then figure out placement, and only then pick out gear.

Thanks, that's definitely a good point. Sometimes I get a little ahead of myself...

It's like an addiction, and I don't think there is ever a point when you say enough is enough... just when I think I'm all done upgrading and adding on, I find something else audio/video related that I can spend money on. I've upgraded speakers and subs so many times, I'm sure my girlfriend is wondering if I'll ever be done, but at least she likes it loud and lots of bass just like me, and she too wants a dedicated theater room one day, so that's definitely a good thing.
