. Not sure if you were expecting a rumble fest.
I sorta was expecting a rumble fest with all the explosions and laser fire and such. I think if Star wars were to be on Blu-Ray, I'd buy all of them, even if it was $200, and I'd assume the sound would be way better.

It is a TrueHD track. It is good, but it isn't one of the best I've heard.

I hope Lucas releases the Star Wars stuff on blu-ray, but I just don't think it's going to happen for some reason.

Yeah, I still put Kung Fu Panda at the top. Seems there just aren't as many TrueHD sound tracks out. At least to me it seems DTS HD Master Audio is winning out in the audio codec war.

In certain scenes in Star Trek, it seems like they intentionally dropped the sound levels down on purpose, because in other key scenes it has plenty of dynamics. I threw it in last night to give it a listen.

Same here. Pretty good sound track IMO.

Agreed. I had to raise my sub's output as well but cringed on others becuase off too much bass. As perfect as the picture was, the soundtrack is nothing to write home about and like i said in a previous post, the old DTS lossy soundtrack of Master & Commander is a far better reference material in sound than this Star Trek.

Master and Commander is great LFE wise! I may have to give it a watch today [funny how these discussions lead me to doing something:)]. Those cannon blasts are incredible.

I have too agree withn the OP on this one....but I had an excuse!:p Problem is now fixed and I might have to watch this one again...:).

Okay I watched the rest of the movie(Star Trek)...good flick BTW and I swapped out my sub cables to no avail..then I decided to switch the AVR and found out my problem. The sub output on the yammy is the cause. I'm glad to know that my sub isn't the problem but rather my receiver! Fcuk......

The beginning of the movie where the battle occurs between the two ships is incredible in Master and Commander. The sound of the canon blasts and the detailed sounds of the cannon damaging the ship through the surrounds is amazing. The end of the movie is also very good. I never achieved that sense of realism or level of dynamics in the Star Trek soundtrack. I would agree with everyone that the Star Trek soundtrack is good but I would pull out other movies before the Star Trek BD to show off a reference level Blu-ray disk.

The Dark Knight is one of my reference movies. It's a great film with good video and sound. Though Casino Royale is the premier video reference film. War is probably the most insane sound track I've watched. I got worried about cops during that one.

We are a bout 2,000 or so feet from our nearest neighbor, so we listen to everything as loud as we want. So turning it up is not a problem. I like to show people Repo! The Genetic Opera, and Terminator Salvation as references. T.S. is especially nice, because with the Aura Pro's under the couch, and all the surrounds, it's almost like being on a Moving Movie Ride at Disneyland or something, because you find yourself following a car the whole couch shakes, and then if things get quiet, it stops, and then explosions make my posters fall down off the walls. It's great.

The Dark Night is definitely one of them. Great movie too. I, Robot is one of the most underrated disks for picture and sound quality. Its not talked about much with the usual suspects (Dark Night, Master and Commander, Iron Man, Live Free or Die Hard, Kung Fu Panda etc) but IMO it is a great Blu-ray. Unfortunately the movie itself is not all that good.

I saw it in the theater and loved it. I may have to pick it up.
