Subwoofer thoughts.....cant decide

I have been doing a lot of research on subs under $400 shipped and this is what I have come up with:

Premier Acoustic PA-120

HSU STF-2

BIC H100

All my other speakers are the "black piano finish" and would like the sub to match.
Have heard really great reviews on the PA-120

Thanks,
Jeff

Haven't heard much about the other companies, but if the Hsu performs anything like my VTF-2 (a bit bigger woofer and just a hint more amp power) you'll be very happy. Hsu has a solid reputation and the other usual suspects (epik, svs, eD) are either out of your budget or in a different finish.

If you can put up with the non-piano black finish, though, the eD A2-300 gets a lot of positive press.

How big is your room?

That Hsu is supposed to be able to fill rooms up to 3000 square feet and should fill your area nicely.

Actually, it fills a room of up to 3000 cubic feet, or around 300 square ft, assuming 10ft ceilings. Can't be too careful about the square/cubic distinction!

It should still be enough, though, according to Hsu. And Hsu has a pretty good rep for accurately (or even conservatively) representing its products.

Between those, I'd go with the HSU. Not a knock on BIC or PA, but HSU makes some very good subs. I've owned a HSU sub and I was always impressed with it, even though my room was too large for it.

My bad.

D'oh!
