They are pretty good. I have about 14 pairs in my home theater. I think I'll buy some more today as well.

Buy them quick, they then to go on and off sale very fast, sometimes within the same day. They are a great deal and a good product. I use them exclusively.

why the open screw type?

I use monoprice's closed screw type... they sometimes go on sale for the same price.

Some people prefer to put the wire in from the side.

If you don't want to use the side input and instead feed the cable from the back end, what holds it securely in place?

I don't generally like the kind that has a tiny little set screw to hold the wire but these don't appear to have anything. It looks like you'd have to fan out the wire a bit at the end (bend it into an 'L') so a part sticks up a bit and then tighten the end to smash the wire against the end of the barrell.

Just got my first 10 pairs of these in today, and just got done installing them. They are very nice, and work very well. The fit and finish on them is good, and the have a nice tight fit in the all terminals I have plugged them into so far. I highly reccomend these, and I'll probably pick up a couple more pairs for my car's subwoofer box next time I catch them on sale.

I hate to sound like an idiot (oh well, it's never stopped me before) but how do these work? Do you insert the wire from one side to the other and then tighten the center screw? Seems funny to have the wire feed from the side like that.

The wire feeds in from either the side or the top, then tighten it down.

Got the 8 I ordered today. I don't like the look, prefer the others where the wires feed in from the back. I have 8 if anybody wants em.
