Apples new device. Pretty slick I could think of many who this will appeal to. I don't have a need for one, but you have to admit they took the netbook/tablet PC idea to a whole other level.

Looks like any other tablet PC to me. Apple really needs to get back to innovation and not imitation imo.

Although people will buy this, sadly not because it's a new and exciting idea, but because it's from Apple.

With net books coming in at less than it's initial price I think it will be a hard sell to most people.

Totally agree. Its nothing more than iPod Touch with a few extra features...yawn...I'm sure apple fanboys will be rushing to the bank to take out a line of credit and be the first one in line to buy this. Funny enough the people buying this thing will already have an iPhone or iPod touch making this device very over priced for the extra features it has to offer. Apple dropped the ball on this device IMO.

Really you guys crack me up. It is a lot more than an Ipod touch. It is really an elegant way of having all of the above. 499 is not so bad but 800 for 3g and 64gig solid state drive is pricey. I also think that we really have no idea how this will be used once apps start being wrote for it.

I agree about iPad though. They could have picked a better name for sure. Jeesh.

No they didn't really. They made exactly what people wanted. I'd consider buying one. I really don't like the Iphone because the screen is so small. Internationally I could see this catching on big time.

I hope he was. Even a die hard PC head has to admit it is pretty cool. I really would never have a use for one though. Maybe if I flew a lot or something. I don't know? I would have to use it I guess. I would take one as a gift though

Yeah a 64 gig drive runs about 200 commercially. So that really isn't too bad a price. But it is a glorified iPod touch. which a bigger screen and a bigger hard drive.

I suppose it is a touch on roids. As solid state prices come down so will devices like this too.

Even though analysts said it is priced below expectations, I still think it is a bit too high. They priced it so that it will create some demand but not everyone will have one and I think they do pretty well on that front, but this device doesn't really offer anything that doesn't already exist IMO. It will sell well initially, but I have a feeling that interest will fall off quickly too.

Its missing full OSX, flash ,oled screen. It has the typical poor battery life thats on all apple portable devices, no cheap camera?, could use larger stock memory, no usb port?..these are all things people wanted...its a fail!

Apps will be the key. Lots of good software and it will stay.

i like it! but the price is kinda steep for me.

i'd rather get another laptop for my wife.

ay good point. locally, we use USB based wireless internet dongles (free wifi isn't that available)

10hrs battery life. That's not too shabby. Missing ports though. Guess their thinking of not using it like a typical PC. I don't think that will be an issue.

I could use this as my couch/bed internet device, but lack of flash and price are show stoppers for me. I'd rather get $200 smartbook with bigger screen,real keyboard (to help me troll here more efficiently) and about same battery life

I agree that it will come down to what software comes out to take advantage of the iPad. At my office, we're hoping for a great electronic medical record system to come out for it, so we can just take an iPad with us to examine patients and be free from table top PC's we currently use.
