Excuse my ignorance but are the outer jackets isolated from the power. It looks like everything is all metal so I was wondering.
They are indeed all metal except for the red/black plastic color bands. The outer jackets are in direct contact with the copper wire.

thanks for the link. i ordered the max as well. i was originally using the open screw type and did not like the speaker wire extruding from the sides. made for a tight fit when additional wires were right next to them.

Just ordered the max. I'm getting some for my buddy who just bought a new receiver and speakers. He mentioned that he wanted banana plugs but that they cost too much.
I thought Alex was already using banana plugs :D

Seriously ... nice jester for a buddy ;)

Here's a pdf showing instructions+pictures of the locking banana plugs. They look very nice, but I can't justify spending more than the $.97 for monoprice plugs.

get the ones with locking screws. You can also get locking screw banana plugs from Unique Prodicts Online. http://www.uniqueproductsonline.com/lobapl12pa6p.html

First, I like monoprice and have bought a lot of audio equipment from them including their banana plugs which are good. However, even though they cost more I like the double screw locking banana plugs much better.

Good Luck!

Toss Up

The look very close to the same product. ( Bluejean cables might even be OEMing them from Unique :D ) I bought and I am using the Unique screw banana products. I have not had actual experience with bluejeanscables banana plugs, however bluejeanscable is a very quality company and I have no doubt you would be pleased with their locking banana plugs.

So I guess my answer it it is a toss-up. I don't think you could go wrong either way :)

How are these plugs? I am putting together my first home theater and I think I should get some of these.

I ordered some and they're very good. I don't see the need of spending anymore unless you really want the locking type, but the fit on these is pretty secure.

I got them last time they were on sale, but I think I will get some for gifts. Gotta love Monoprice.

I bought a bunch of these awhile back to do an install for a friend. My only complaint is they have a tendency to work loose. Even when I've used a pair of pliers to tighten them.

Dave - do you mean that the two halves tend to come unscrewed? I have several pairs, but I haven't used any of them, yet.

I use both plugs from BJC, the locking plugs have two locking set screws to keep wire in place and a screw on barrel to force the pins of the plug to expand locking the plug very securely in place, makes for an excellent connection, well worth the extra $. I move equipment around a lot and don't have to worry about the plugs coming loose, I believe they are $5.50 a pair, they don't resemble the unique plug.

Yes and the banana tip is also threaded and comes unscrewed.

(does that somehow fall into your innuendo category?)
