I will apologize up front, I'm sure you guys get asked all the time which speakers one should buy. Nonetheless, I really don't know what to do. Here's my situation. I currently have a Pioneer Elite 50" plasma. I now want to add to it. I think I'll go with either a Denon 2310 or the Marantz equiv. receiver. I have wired for 7.1 but I can run 5.1 one for now. They will be on wall mounted. The room is a longer basement room with one half as the theater half and the other half is for kids toys, pool table and such.
In my town, there are two dealers. One sells KEF, Klipsch, and Sunfire. The other sells Definitive Techs and two others but I can't remember what they were. I do know that they said the Def Tech were their best speakers.
Most of the time the theater will be used for movies, probably not so much at all for just music listening. We like action movies, so good bass is important but I really want to experience the sound coming at you from the sides and the rear and not just blown away from the front, if that makes sense.
So, I guess the question is, which of the the above mentioned brands should I be looking at or is there another brand that I should try to look at? I'm completely lost with the speakers and I'll admit that it can be a little frustrating. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks again.
