WTB: Cheap Receiver

I just need something to go in my garage to power some garage tunes.
Only thing I need is AM/FM (with antenna) and Aux input.
The reason I'm looking for one is because I'm going to get the living room setup going again and need to use my Denon receiver in the house now.

My budget is about $40 shipped or less if at all possible. I was kind of hoping maybe someone here has an old POS receiver sitting around that they wouldn't mind just letting go for cheap.
I tried craigslist and didn't have any luck. Local pawn shop is a joke.

My zip code is 35603. I appreciate it, guys!

I wish I could help you. I just gave my dad my old Pioneer SX-2600 I bought when I was in high school.

that's cool man. I appreciate the feedbck anyway.

It's kind of a long shot. I know I don't stash stuff, but was just hoping that someone here has a closet full of crap they want to clear out that just happens to have a receiver, lol!!!

I see cheap receivers on Craigslist all the time. That's probably your best bet, since it will cost $20+ to ship a receiver. You might have to be paitent but a lot of people will be unloading old stuff that they replaced at Christmas.

I've actually been watching craigslist periodically for the past 3 months. Most people are wanting $100 for a 10 year old sony receiver that's beat up. and there's no negotiating with them. It's kind of crazy. People on CL are kooky sometimes.

Have you checked Good Will or other Thrift Stores around you?
Checked a local thrift store last weekend and they didn't have much. My local stores rarely have anything.

Erin, did you see this Sansui unit on CL (it's in Monrovia, AL). Only $25.
Actually, I had emailed that person this morning. He said that the audio sometimes fades out for about 5 minutes then picks back up. I asked for a bit more details on that issue.

Throw the speakers back on craigslist for $10, or ask the seller if they'll sell the receiver by itself.

Met up with this guy today and bought the sansui. Nice dude. Works on the arsenal for the army folks so I drove over on my lunch break. Our offices are about 2 mi apart. :)

He said it has a weird thing where the music fades out for about 5 seconds every 10 minutes or so. That's fine with me. For $25, for garage tunes... that's cool.

I'll let you know how this one pans out. But, if it's like he said, then I can deal with missing audio here and there.

thanks, though!

If you are lucky, that is just a FM reception issue and won't be an issue in your garage.
(Hope springs eternal).
