Folks, just got back from seeing this film. If there is one word that could sum this one up it would be, quite frankly, Bloody!!!!! Action packed from the beginning until the end. The advertisement claims that "only one Ninja was hurt during the making of this film whereas all the others are DEAD".:rolleyes::eek: Well, after seeing this film I almost believe it......LOL!!!!:p:eek:

The fight scenes were spectacular and quite skillful. Of course, high speed cameras never hurt either. The audio effects were very well done. Lots of clanging sounds from the various Ninja weapons being employed throughout. The acting was about average which is what I expected it to be. Similarly, the plot was somewhat predictable at times. As such, I would give this film a solid B+ which means I kind of liked it. Therefore, if you are a martial arts buff like myself, then by all means be sure to see it. It is doubtful you will regret it-even if you wait until it comes to home release. ;):);)

Cheers,

Phil

I saw Ninja Assassin over the weekend.

I thought it was okay - not the worst and not the best - just average.

I liked the fight scenes, although I did not think they were the best I've seen.

I don't think the fight scenes were as good as "House of Flying Daggers" or "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" or "Iron Monkey".

Besides the fight scenes, the rest of the story of Ninja Assassin was just boring and silly IMO.

The ending was funny - machine guns against sword-fighing ninjas!:D

Can't wait for this to come out on blu.
I have to confess that I might have liked "Ninja Assassin" a lot more if I had seen this ALONE.:D

It's kind of hard to fully enjoy a movie when your significant other is complaining about it during the movie, you know?:D

So yeah, I will definitely get this on blu-ray and see it again all by myself.:D

Very good point. Being a single guy that is something I never have to deal with. I do, however, have a couple of close friends that quite often fall asleep during a movie. Funny things is, it seems to only occur when the movie is not very interesting/entertaining!!!!! ;);)

Me and the gf both agreed the blood was a little overkill but overall it was a great movie.

Yeah, a bit much if you ask me. We are in total agreement on that one. One thing that surprised me was that was NOT much eye-candy!!!!!!:eek::eek: I may have rated this film higher if there was some in it.........LOL!!!!!! ;):p;)

Never seen a movie suck more than this...
Ouch-was it that bad? I liked the action, but the blood/gore was a bit over-done imho. Lots of skill involved. As mentioned in my op, high speed cameras helped with quickness. All in all, I liked this one. Thanks for sharing your thought though. Sorry, it was not to your liking.

You're right. 2/3 of the movie wasn't that bad, until some budget cut came into play. The scene when the army break in with choppers and Humvees was close to hilarious. I've never seen such bad acting. lol

Oh yeah and more funny than this, on the last scene, they make a large pan shot where you can see about 10,000,000M² of rivers, rocky mountains and large trees. I wonder how the Humvees made it in such a hurry! LOL

Oh, come on! I guess you don't watch as many movies as I do.:D

I've seen a LOT worse than Ninja Assassin!

Clearly, everyone can agree that Ninja Assassin is not among the BEST movies.

But there are a lot worse movies out there.

I definitely think the SETTING of the movie was just wrong. Ninjas against modern day machine guns + night-vision infered is not a good idea.

If the setting was back in the old days of the Japanese Samarai, it would have been awesome IMO.:D

Ninja vs. Samarai -- ooh yeah.:D

I agree!

I wonder when Van Dam Vs. Seagle will hit the theaters?! Now that would be insane!
