Which version of HDMI is the interface? Is there a pre-out on the unit (I can't tell in the pictures on Pioneer's site if it's a pre-out, or if it's a 7-channel in.

JerryLove - It has 7.1 input and 7.1 pre-out. Oh, and it only passes audio.......it does not process audio. I remember being suprised at this. The video is fine.
