Behringer B2030P. Use this for L, R, Center, and surrounds. Get two respectable active subs such as the SVS entry level units (about $400) each. Use one on each side of the room. Get a respectable receiver, preferably factory refurbished for greater value. Add in some room treatments from GIK Acoustics (these are critical to added SQ). You can achieve quite the system for a relatively low budget if you pick the right parts. There really is no consumer available speaker that will even come close to the ones I recommened above unless you spend several times the $$. The SVS subs are recommended because they have the highest level of real/measured performance for the $$ spent. There are only a handful of subs at that price that can compare to the SVS. You have more flexibility with the electronics.
An added benefit of the Behringer speakers is that with some minor (and easy) modifications, you can substantially improve their SQ beyond stock form.
You don't need floor standing speakers. Not when you have two subs, one near each stand mount, to perfectly supplement the LF range.
