Holy cow. I was laying on the floor for about five minutes, thought to myself how strange it would be to see another scorpion, then opened my eyes and saw one about a foot from my head. Yeah, I trapped it and released it across the street. Spooky - that's three this summer, and the last two have been pretty close to the same time and were about the same small size. I sure hope that a bunch of eggs didn't hatch in here...
You can spot them with an ultraviolet black light. If you have access to chickens they love to eat scorpions and are great for clearing the exterior of the building.
I suggest you work on getting your home safe. Scorpion stings can be fatal especially with some of the species in Arizona. They have very complex potent venom and if you get stung you should seek immediate medical attention. Of particular concern is your dog. If you could photograph the ones you find we could make an attempt to identify the species to give you more specific info.
Your chances of dying are still pretty low, but if you get stung it's an experience they say rivals childbirth with some species. That was from a woman that did natural birth that was interviewed. I watched the discovery channel as a kid and read every book on venomous animals I could. I even wrote a paper on rattlesnakes for my freshman English paper.
At my parent's house we had major issues with scorpions why they were building nearby. My dog got tagged by one on his paw. Thankfully it didn't puncture through his pad. I used to check my bed every night for them.
